I saw “Smokey and the Bandit” when it came out, and I was 10 years old. Ever since then I always wanted a Black and Gold ‘77 Trans-Am…well…3 weeks ago, my dream came TRUE! It is a BEAUTIFUL car! I even go out to my garage just to LOOK at it sometimes, because I can’t believe I finally OWN ONE!!!

My Uncle bought a black and gold TA new in 1977. He is no longer with us but my Aunt still has it, 8500 original miles. Still has the factory rubber and original battery, according to my Aunt, its never even seen rain, and my uncle had more time waxing it than he did in the drivers seat. He picked it up from the dealership in June of 77, immediately drove to the college where she was still in school, took her to watch the movie in then proposed later that evening. Suffice to say that car has some sentimental value and wont be going up for sale any time soon.

The Trans-am was the first car I fell in love with.

This car and the 68 Charger and 68 Mustang in Bullitt started it all for me 40 years ago. The 77 front grille really makes the car so iconic. When the grille changed in 79 the Trans Am went down a couple notches, nothing great lasts forever..

Just bought a Trans Am from May 1977. I'm also a sucker for cars that have been in movies.

OK a lot of things to cover here, 1. The engine call out on the Shaker hood scoop is wrong for 3 reasons on that car. 1st the cars in the movie have the call out 6.6 Litre which was used for the base 400 pontiac engine which had 180 hp and 325 ft lb of torque, 2. The TA 6.6 call out is for the W72 400 which cameout in 1977 with 220hp and 320 ft lbs, it also had factory chrome valve covers. 3. The engine shown in this video is not a Pontiac engine it is a 403 Olds engine the oil fill tube in front of the shaker is a dead give away. It had 185hp and 320 ft lbs . The W72 was carried on to 1979 and was factory rated at that time 220 hp and 320 ft lbs the cars in fact put out 260-280 net hp and could 1/4 mile in high 15 to low 14 sec range. The 1979 w72 came with a 4 spd manual trans only.

Actually Burt's last Trans Am was a 1979 and he signed the dash. It sold in Florida for $317, 500. Also, as Hal Needham said, only 3 Trans Ams were used in the movie, 1 for advertising or up close scenes and 2 for stunts.

I was 9 years old when Smokey and Star Wars came out and I was obsessed with both, but had the poster of the Trans Am on my wall, and only boxes of Star Wars trading cards.

It was my favorite car to spot on the road when I was young. We have a Bandit impersonater in our area with the car and all. We recently shot some promotional videos with him. The filming renewed my love for th 7:23 e car!

Well must be rich to be able to plunk down over 170k for a trans am. As well as all the other cars in collection . Beautiful T/A

Sweet collection! Only the Beetle "Herbie" is the wrong year of build. The front fenders are of the wrong area.

How cool is that, that this TA runs under Burt Raynolds name? Crazy and so cool!

Great car. You need a bulb in the driver side fog light.

That movie was magic in a bottle; the right stunt man, the right star, an absolutely charming Sally Fields, and a car that was made for the movie screen.

The only movie I've ever seen in the theater where people got up and cheered.
