the cast metal is not strong enough to hold the tool post this way. the metal is too thin where the bolt passes through plus the gap below the post and casting creates additional pressure on the hole causing it to crack over time. how do I know this? I had to order a new topslide slide after the old one ripped out following this mod. I have welded the new one and this is much stronger now. if anyone has done this mod please check yours!!!
