I've never been put under for medical purposes. The only time I've ever been knocked unconscious outside of sleep was when I stood up too fast one time in the kitchen after I'd knelt down to pet one of the cats. I stood up to say good morning to my dad when he walked into the kitchen, got SUPER dizzy all of a sudden, and stumbled backwards through the doorway to the basement stairs. I vaguely remember trying to catch myself in the doorway with my hands, and then the next thing I knew I was sitting on the floor and my dad was holding my head asking if I was okay. I'd hit the back of my head on one of the pantry shelves right above the stairway. Out cold, though according to my dad it was only for like 15 seconds or so. Was a very strange experience, being the first and only time it's happened. So I get Calli's apprehension somewhat.
Hope the surgery goes well, whenever it is!

Thats a scary memory of trying to swim to consciousness, ive had a general anesthesia surgery and dont remember anything like that, just on the table and bang wake up in a ward. It really felt like time travel to me, like a blink. Not in the way sleep feels like yesterday was a while ago even though you dont remember exactly what you where necessarily dreaming about the whole night

Considering she said it'd be in the next half a year, it means it really isn't anything super serious, otherwise it would be done much sooner than that. Regardless though, I'm hoping whatever she's getting done goes well and she makes a swift recovery.

Oh I remember getting my appendix removed in like 7th grade, cuz after surgery I woke up and my mouth was dryer than sand, nurse ready with the cup of ice chips. Honestly the only thing that sucked was not being able to ride my bike for a while cuz o the stitches. If Calli is just casually dropping this and saying it's not a big deal, then I'm sure it's all good.

Knowing how big announcements usually go, some people can have heart attacks even before viewing the video. Anyways, the only thing we deadbeats can do is wish her nothing but the best.

I actually kinda like general anesthesia. I generally don't sleep very deeply so it's nice getting knocked out cold, and that feeling of slowly coming to is really peaceful.

Strangely I've been put under twice and I had vastly different experiences each time. One was how Calli explained, while for the other I literally felt like I just blinked and some number of hours had passed.

The whole feeling of anesthesia is wild. I’ve been under a few times. One time I actually remember being wheeled into surgery before just waking up back in recovery. Then there’s my wisdom tooth where I was strapped into the chair going alright this is gonna suck and they were saying we’re done and were helping me up. I don’t even think I blinked.

I've been put under about 6 times in the last year or so, after never having done so before. 2 major surgeries and 3 minor procedures, 1 pre-op procedure. Going under is pretty unexciting. They start connecting the IV and mask, you are talking to them, you close your eyes to block out the bright operating room lights, then BAM. You are asleep and have no idea when you went out.
Waking up, I usually just pop up fully conscious and aware of what is going on. The only problem was after the first major operation, and I woke up with a tube down my throat. As soon as I opened my eyes, the nurses were asking me questions. I couldn't answer their questions yes or no, so I had to make gestures... well.. this is when I learned that nurses suck at charades. No matter what I tried to say, they misinterpreted it and added another question. I eventually got angry and gave them the finger. At that point at least they recognized I was unhappy about something.

Anyway, I wish Cali well when she finally has the operation!

I've been under once, and I had a blast. My mom was in the room with me for the precursor stuff, and she confirms that I was rattling off random trivia about japanese, chemistry, and calculus, trying to see how badly the stuff impaired me. It was fun!
