#Apollo11 is in theaters everywhere March 8.

From director Todd Douglas Miller (Dinosaur 13) comes a cinematic event fifty years in the making. Crafted from a newly discovered trove of 65mm footage, and more than 11,000 hours of uncatalogued audio recordings, Apollo 11 takes us straight to the heart of NASA’s most celebrated mission—the one that first put men on the moon, and forever made Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin into household names. Immersed in the perspectives of the astronauts, the team in Mission Control, and the millions of spectators on the ground, we vividly experience those momentous days and hours in 1969 when humankind took a giant leap into the future.

The shot of the Saturn V climbing, shrouded in a vapour, is too beautiful.

The footage is basically the best quality you can get in the world which is unbelievable to know how this is unseen. This should have billions of views, looks outstanding

This documentary should have won the Emmy for best director, documentary, in 2019. Absolutely, great from the first second to last.

That footage at the beginning with Neil Amstrong gives me chills. Never seen any footage of the mission at that resolution before.

No events in human history have been more meticulously recorded. These high quality images and recordings have been in storage for fifty years and longer. Nice to see them starting to surface. No need for CGI, or actors.

I thought it was more of a remake, but when I saw the faces of the astronauts, I felt a shiver! It's the real footage, with an absurdly incredible quality! I'll see in the theater. Hugs from Brazil.

I saw this at an IMAX today was absolutely blown away. Had chills, I laughed, I cried, I held my breath in suspense even knowing the outcome. The large format film is pristine, the sound design and music is superb. An amazing look at their voyage to the moon. Also one of the best arguments for shooting on film - gorgeous. And it doesn’t get any better than just seeing Neil, Buzz, and Mike smile on their way home. A must see!

Watched this twice last week... it is simply breathtaking. There's no filler, no talking over, nobody "recalling events" ... about 80% of it is in the quality you see here. A lot of the footage will be familiar to Apollo / Gemini / Mercury fans in it's 60's TV quality, but this ... this is just a dream come true.

Simply. Breathtaking.

Thank you Neon / CNN. Job well done.

The reconstruction and color quality of these old films is BEAUTIFUL. I've seen tons of that footage over, and over again but, I'm still in awe of it all.

I saw this in IMAX tonight. I am dumbfounded at the new glorious, stunning, mind-blowing footage and pictures, the soundtrack, the total absence of ANY modern narration. The only voices you will hear are Walter Cronkite's, the Astronauts, and NASA Personnel ... from 1969! The up-close HD footage of the thousands of civilians miles away was a step back in time. You will feel like you can touch them. The launch will leave you in awe, the greatest wonder the human race has ever achieved. So much new footage, exquisite, detailed footage ... of the landing, the ascent from the moon, the re-entry to earth, the insertion burns. I will see this in theater more than once. See it on the biggest screen you can.

The fact that they were able to transcribe and sync the audio with film footage that was probably shot MOS (without sound) is the greatest achievement of this film from a production standard. I read there were 11, 000 hours of audio of dubious quality that was digitized and cleaned up. Modern heroes, there.

Also, the decision to let cameras roll without edits in the edit suite were appreciated. The ascent of the lunar module Eagle to the rendezvous ship is very powerful. Must see.

I was lucky enough to watch the moon landing live on our 18” black and white tv with my dad, he let me stop up late to watch it and we were both glued to the tv, the atmosphere was amazing even tho we were in the uk we felt proud for all mankind.

I was in Kindergarten when the first moon landing took place. We had a single, small, black and white tv in the living room. My mother grabbed me, and shoved me up to the tv....which was saying something, I was always being told to get back from the tv because it was radioactive! My mom told me to watch this, to remember this moment all my life, I was seeing history. I saw Cmdr. Armstrong come down the LEM, but I didn't know what I was seeing I had no point of reference, I had never heard of an "astronaut" before.

It wasn't until I was at school, on the playground, and the teachers gathered all us children around, pointed at the moon, and told us OUR BOYS were up there right now as we speak. I will NEVER forget that. It wasn't until a few years later I saw a snapshot of the grainy, black and white image of Cmdr. Armstrong stepping off onto the moon that I realized THAT was what I saw that day my mom put me in front of the telly! Unless you were a child back then, you have no idea the sense of national pride we all felt...afterall, it was the Cold War, we had duck and cover drills! Those astronauts were our heroes!

Four days before the launch my parents grabbed me, my brother and my two sisters and threw us in the car. Three days later we were at Cape Canaveral. Luckily we were able to find a place to camp for the night. The next day we watched the launch first hand, 150 feet from the count down clock. We could feel the power of the five engines in our chest and they were loud. After the launch we got back in the can and headed home. Got home three hours before they landed on the moon. Little sleep for days and we were wide awake. We witnessed the most historical event of the 20th century. For a fifteen year old it was the trip and experience of a life time and I will never forget it.
