i'll be honest with you I have never had luck with stud finders, including this one. Maybe it's because I always live in older construction houses but every stud finder I've used always gives false readings including this one. Right now I'm trying to use this to find a stud so I can hang a TV mount and I'm getting readings that are all over the place. It says there's a stud in one place so i mark it, but then when I go over that same place again it says there isn't a stud there. I'm about ready to just use some heavy duty drywall anchors that i have and call it a day.
