The Protestant reformation and latterly the emergence of the capitalist economy, turned jobs and work into the central aim of life. The system now dictates reality and the emergence of hyper-capitalism means we are no longer limited by 8-hour days or scarce resources, even more of our lives are dictated by the work identity. Everything is geared towards work.
