I currently own an M200 and there are a few things you must know!!!
-It overheats after 30 minutes of recording so don't expect long videos.
-Live streaming you'll need a camlink and dummy battery in order to use it. (it won't overheat if you have these)
-Although you can change the aperture and ISO settings, this is still a grainy and somewhat blurry effect to backgrounds and shadows. I put it in 4k and it still slightly has it, it's just not as noticable.
-If you are new to cameras you cannot get the wide angle lenses like Harris unless you have an EF adapter. Please be aware they can cost up to $150-$200 for a quality one.
-Lastly, you won't really be able to really get good color correction on it. It's good but don't expect Alpha Gaming level of adjustment.

I'm no camera pro so don't take my advice to heavily but I have run into those issues. However, if you get past all the minor details the M200 is an EXCELLENT starter camera. Besides the overheating and grainy shadows (Which nobody notices on a stream, just YouTube), this camera allows for good versatility. Just don't expect to go vlogging all day without cool down breaks.

Happy streaming.

For someone not super versed on cameras, it would be cool to have sort of "camera settings for best streaming" or "do's and don'ts for stream set up with livestreaming." Love your videos and have learned so much already. You've helped so much and I just love watching your vids and learning! So thank you for doing what you do!

One thing to note about the a5100, the price changes A LOT on Amazon. I watched it for a while and saw the price bounce between $400-$600. I ended up snagging mine with the kit lense for $398 brand new. So, if you're thinking about grabbing an a5100, just watch the prices for a while and grab it when they are low.

I actually really like the colors on the canon, it makes the setup look less canned and artificial and more vibrant. However, I'm also going to assume based on your reactions and previous shots that the Sony and Lumix cameras were more color-accurate

I picked up an M50 for 700€, I'm super happy with it. Setting it up needed a bit more research, but i was able to make it work with OBS. U need to use manual focus to get rid of the square in the middle, and you need to use Canon's PC app, to keep the camera not turning off after 30min. But it works and its great for Vlogging. has an external mic jack. Its a combination of Lumix and m200 in the same package. I just wanted to point out if someone needs a camera that can work well for vlogging and streaming. *cheers*

As someone with an EOS camera, that "lens lock" is so when taking photographs, the press of the shutter button won't auto focus while trying to take the photo. its a focus lock essentially. It allows you to manually focus without having to worry about the camera ruining the perfectly focused shot.

One of the nice things about the Lumix G7 / Micro-4-3rd is that one can improve the picture quality by mounting a SpeedBooster on it....I put a Viltrox EF-M2 on it and used a Tokina SD 11-16mm f2.8 (IF) DX II on it which mathematically makes it a 15.62-22.72mm with an f-stop of 1.988 (bringing more light to the sensor allowing to eliminate noise by using a lower ISO) and a DOF like 3.976 on xyz x 0.71 (Speedboost by this Viltrox) x 2 (for very nice lens is also Sigma 18-35 f1.8

I bought the Sony a5100 and I'm loving it! THOUGH I should let you all know that you'll want it in movie mode for it to auto focus better for streams, photo modes focus changes super often and is really messy for video and streams. If I talked or changed facial expressions it'll refocus which a lot of us wouldn't want as sensitive. Movie mode is better at a more subtle refocus and isn't as finicky

Regarding ISO on the Lumix: you have an option for the full stop or 1/3 stop jumps in iso, when the camera is set to any of the photo modes; change it there, go back to video and you should be able to adjust it with 1/3 stops.

Cheers

Can I just say I appreciate that text editing to line up with your hand moving whilst holding the different cameras, that is some frame by frame shit and its only a small detail but adds a lot to your video.

Great comparison of these top budget picks. I think all of these cameras work with the CamlInk 4K for streaming BUT, the Canon also works with Canon's beta streaming software (which is free) and which I can download right now. "Free" and "immediately available" are nice features that make me want to go with the M200.

Bro I've been streaming for about 2 years but have recently stumbled across your videos and wish I had all of these available for me in 2016! Hahaha. Seriously, I'm learning a lot from your stream tips videos. I appreciate it!
