Does anyone have a reccomendation for a budget setup that could do similar things to this? Even only with percussion, just a drum machine that can jam like that

Could probably buy a TR-8S and a Pulsar-23 and still have change...

But having been into modular since '97 myself, I understand the desire for absolute control.

Where do you learn where to put the cords? Would like to branch out from DAW's to this stuff, but it's like Linux programming. You have no idea where to start.
