What is Gold VERMEIL?!

Let's talk about gold vermeil! It seems like there's so many different types of gold manufacturing and plating out there. It can really get confusing sometimes. I'm making individual videos about the various manufacturing methods. Gold vermeil is pretty straight forward. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have.

I've had my vermeil for about 5 years and it still looks the same it lasts as long as you properly take care of it.

Sterling may tarnish but it’s similar to gold as in it cleans off. I prefer silver or white gold I’m just not into yellow gold so all of my jewelry is either white gold or sterling. The only reason vermeil is better than just plated over trash metal is because the gold sticks to the sterling better. Also your neck or wrist won’t turn green with vermeil because the base is sterling.

I just bought a custom vermeil ring... It was $550, and the jeweler is reputable, so I am hoping for the best. At the end of the day, I would've gotten gold, but it would've been $4, 500. That, I cannot do, lol.

my vermiel 925 10mm cuban link faeded 10 months later with sweat and everyday wear but $750 vs $10, 000 what can i say its preference replating will cost $100 minimum still achieved the look for less

i had a silver rope chain with 24k plated . it started changing color like after 5 months

I never bought vermeil yet but I do have real and plated yellow gold chains. There is definitely varied quality in gold plating. I've seen some gold plated change color in literally 1 day after just 2 hours of wearing it, and I also have a gold plated chain that I've had for 2 years and wear it regularly about 3 times a week and it still looks brand new. But that one is PVD Plated.

I never tell people what they should spend their money on lol, but if you decide to wear a nice gold plated piece just take caution. Spray your gold plated jewelry down with a clear coated Crystal from the hardware store so your jewelry can last a very long time and your neck don't break out.

I've had mine for 2 months so far and it was at a discounter and it has lasted so far. Also it has had signs of previous wear but it has not gotten worse and it is worn every day.

my vermiel chain held the gold very well for years. only on the pendant where it rubs on chest is fading but i buy from shop GLD so i can send it in and get it redipped for free

My Mom has a vermeil necklace that she bought in 1983. It still looks good to this day, no fading. Of course YMMV.

You can always polish silver back to life but not gold plated silver just buy silver if you don't have money for gold.

I bought a vermeil chain online when i was 14 and it was amazing! i wore it everyday (except for showers and pools, beach ect.) It lasted well the color faded a bit but it didnt get to bad as for did it look real...For the for first year and a bit it look pretty decent cuz i took AMAZING care of it..it fade a tiny bit but hey its cool. I just dont wear that no more cuz i can afford real jewelry now.

Just a recommendation for anyone wanting to buy vermeil buy from Harlem bling they sell really affordable jewelry if your on a budget and if you can’t buy real gold right now. They also sell gold over stainless steel which is a really affordable option. I have three gold over stainless steel chains from them and I like them a lot. I also have a gold vermeil uzi gun pendant from them.The guy who owns it says he uses pvd plating which I think is the good plating. They’re super cheap the stainless steel ones so that’s a good option if you’re on a budget. And in one of the comments below someone said gold over stainless steel lasts for many years. And they also sell gold over silver jewelry. Someone also said in the comments it depends on how much it’s plated I definitely agree. But there’s always that risk no matter what but I would also say it’s a good option especially buying from them if you don’t have enough money for gold right now. Also if you want stones they also sell moissanite which is a fraction of the price of what diamonds are. And they shine better than a diamond. I still like diamonds but it’s a good affordable option.
