I just found your channel today and I’m in love. I started out in acrylics and like all my painting friends, this means we started with zero concept of color theory. We just bought another 17 bottles of paint. Twenty five years ago I started teaching color theory, first to art camp kids and then to the adults I paint with all the time. It’s mind blowing how much better their paintings are when they know WHY they’re using a color and not just doing it because someone said so. It also makes them more self sufficient if they want to make alterations in color because they have the confidence to do it correctly! Can’t wait to play with your book. Even when we’ve painted for decades, it’s always refreshing and stimulating to hear a new person put all the concepts into new words! Well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Idk why but ultramarine blue appears to be cool to me while cerulean is warm

I feel like those blues are opposite. I never can tell

The reason you’re getting a better purple with “cool red” is because it’s closer to Magenta. Ignoring that the entire idea of cool and warm colors are completely made up and changes depending on who you ask.

Magenta and yellow make red, and magenta and cyan make blue. Magenta and blue make purple (trinary color)

Painting shouldn't be this much complicated i believe. Too much for me to handle
