!!Important!! If you really want to 3D print this, combine all the bodies using boolean into one before exporting, otherwise your slicer might have problems with the intersecting shells

these are my favorite type of tutorials Taylor! Please make more, this is the best way to learn just basically watching a skilled user do his thing. Very concise, very clean and not too fast not too slow, perfect. Would have been cool to see the lamp finished though...

One of the best tutorials I have ever seen...

I’m late to the party, but I’ve learned more in watching 3 videos here than I have by tinkering for 2 weeks. Fantastic job man. I can not possibly thank you enough.

This program is mind-blowing!  Years ago I tried to teach myself patch modelling in both 3dsmax and Maya - whilst I made some progress I eventually gave up because of all the clumsy and  complex operations you had to perform attaching, detaching and stitching surfaces together.  I therefore chose to develop my high poly modelling skills and left behind NURBs as an interesting concept but impractical method for creating complex models that would be used for animation or game assets. I've always been aware of programs like AutoCAD, SolidWorks and even Sketchup as good solutions to producing complex accurate surface geometry -  however, I never viewed them as creative as your ability to radically alter or kit bash a model together with purpose was limited. This program is nothing short of a revolution in its approach to surface modelling - all of the complex operations are gone and you are free to manipulate your creation with precise control. I'm sure a lot of other poly modellers must be looking at this program and seeing the possibilities... I've already experimented creating shapes that I've exported out as meshes to Zbrush and the results incredible. The meshes will eventually require retopology in the final stages for the kind of work I do - but this isn't too difficult. If Autodesk could also develop a way to export these models out with good quad topology then this program would be perfect!

I just started using Fusion 360 and I am amazed at how easy it is. There should be a course in high school for Fusion 360 just like there was for typing. Just like typing has become very important, 3D design will be very important soon as 3D printing becomes common place.

I am very much a newbie here. But your tutorial took away a good portion of my anxiety. Thank You. But as a newbie your mouse moves a bit too quick for me to see what you have chosen from the various menus. But the more I watch the more I learn. I also can always pause and rewind, a bit of a pain, but what learning curve isn't. Subbed. Thanks again.

what a great tutorial. I'm in the middle of learning fusion and you covered so much more than just making a lampshade! Thank you!

Fusion 360 is such a powerful tool! I use it for 3D printing and CNC work as well. It's just incredible.

that was fantastic, and even better when I followed along. thank you very much.

Don't need to "Edit" (Skecth) the spline to modify the exterior geometry of the lampshade, simply "Show" the skecth and have fun with the point control of the spline. ;)

Who the hell gave this video a thumbs down? WHO? So clearly explained. I am a huge fan of shortcuts but I liked the way he repeatedly went to the same menu item to reinforce the process. Superb thank you.

Nice little tutorial. I was still thinking about how you'd get all the holes in there so nicely while you just made a big "hole" and just left the small strips... It's thinking like that newbies like me have to learn.

Amazing tutorial, thank you! Such clear and easy-to-follow instructions... I like that you didn't use shortcuts and instead showed us where to go with the mouse 😃

First time I have seen the Intersect Operation in the Extrude feature. Really found it useful! I am sure I will be using it in the future.
