I'll admit, I can find some level of enjoyment out of 343's games. They're not COMPLETELY terrible.
But it did take until Infinite's release for me to come to terms with the fact that Halo - what everybody who was there remembers the franchise to be, the heart and the soul that Halo used to have - *absolutely* died with Reach. I spent years trying to convince myself that that wasn't the case but - I can deny it no longer.
Halo died with Bungie.

I love halo 5 actually I think it's a great game. But I'm not much of a story person. I think halo 5s gameplay is super fun

Halo 5 is a bad halo game but not a bad game Edit:Guys it has good game play but a bad story kinda of like Fallout new vegas vs Fallout 4 it's a good game, the only reason why I think it's the worst is because the other games have a balance even halo 4 has a decent story but they drilled a worse hole in halo 5, halo infinite has a better story because it leaves us wondering what happened to the UNSC and it makes us want to figure it out more because of the cliffhanger. Halo fans are weird. I have a friend who watched every single episode of the series only to tell me how shit it was. He only stopped after I yelled at him to stop eating shit on purpose.

Halo 3 is my personal favorite of the franchise just such an amazing ending for the trilogy from the story, multiplayer, and do I even dare say DLC it was just perfect and one of the best games I have ever played

You know, I'm brand new to the franchise. I started with Halo 3 on my old Xbox 360. I had no idea what this game was. I it up and had a blast. I only had Halo 3 and 4. I played both of them, and I loved it. In the last 4 months since then, I've bought MCC and played Reach, CE, and 2. My butt has fallen in love with this series despite its newer flaws. And I'm glad there are people can judge things critically, because there's not enough people out there saying things like this.

I think my main problem as an 'older' halo fan (I started with 3/ODST and reach was very much my era of halo) is that for every good/interesting thing 343 has done with the newer lore gets changed and they keep pivoting in different directions. That and they keep doing stupid things when they pivot.

We've gone from the Didactic/Forerunners then to Jul Mdama covenant in Spartan ops (which I actually enjoyed the concept of even if Halo 4 is a bit iffy) and then Halo 5 its suddenly Cortana (who's being alive again completely negates H4s story) and the AI or whatever (I quit Halo at this point) and now we're fighting the banished from halo wars 2.

Idk feels like they could have told an interesting trilogy of chief struggling to adapt in the new post war world with all the new remnant covenant factions fighting and the politics that come with it.

Theres no direction anymore which doesn't surprise with how msoft has treated its main franchises (Forza/Halo etc) recently. This turned into a bit of rant but YouTube has sent me on a Halo nostalgia trip recently and the state of the franchise currently is depressing.

I played Halo 2 today (31/08/2024) for the first time ever. You know started at a cool 6pm....shoot some grunts, wow tanks, Scarabs, Arbiter story...Regret and we have the flood and the Heretic. Why is Miranda Keyes so badass...I'm kinda into her.
