Anakin was stronger than Obi-wan. in fact he managed to defeat Dooku alone when Kenobi has always been defeated. the reasons why Anakin was defeated on Mustafar are:

1 he was blinded by his new powers which made him impulsive and reckless

2 he had to prove to his master that he was superior to him with the lightsaber (and in fact he dominated the entire battle).

3 and third he lost due to the high ground. if he hadn't made that leap and the fight had continued on land then Anakin would have managed to kill his master.
