Is $5 too much to pay for a Mega Millions lottery ticket?

Mega Millions has rolled out several changes, including new ticket prices, jackpots and an increase in the odds of winning. After last Friday's drawing, tickets now cost $5 each.

The speed of the jackpot is moving up slowly. Basically, it looks like half of the people stopped buying or everybody is buying less. So there's no justification for raising the jackpot.

Yes it is too much. I went to buy a ticket and found out the price and said no. I didn’t like the increase to $2 so this is way too much. $1 was worth wasting for the possibility, $5 just isn’t.

I'm done with Mega Millions tickets. And if they jack the price of Powerball tickets, I'll be done with that game too. It was bad enough when each of them jacked their prices 100% last decade and I stopped playing each one when they did. I took a long break from each and didn't start playing either one of them again until three years ago. I played $2 per game, one ticket for each draw, and that was my limit.

This is horrible. You get less chances now because you can't afford to get so many different set of numbers with this price hike. So how does Mega Million believe they are increasing our chances. Back when it was only $1 I could get 5 set of numbers with 5 dollars. Now I can only get 1 set of numbers for that price. That is crazy! I can't do this! Good bye Mega Millions!

I play every game so that's $4 per week. I do it quite literally to FEEL BETTER as I know my chances of winning are slim to none.
