I use "thriving" to describe my life the same way plant companies use the word, i.e. "not technically dying"

Throwing shade while talking about light requirements. Iconic.

This is the kind of content I want from plant YouTube influencers. I’m tired of the plant unboxings and fake excitement about a plant that they can’t name but swear it’s on their wishlist, then they kill it a few months later, then they write a book about caring for indoor houseplants - I just can’t stand that. Keep the good job Nick. You’re going places!!

them: You can grow ZZ in the DARK!
also them: ZZ grow *so* slowly.
my sun-loving, fast-growing ZZ about to burst out of its pot: 👁 👄 👁

thank you for confirming to me that "bright indirect light" means absolutely nothing of value. I tried for so long to keep the direct rays of sun off my plants, until i finally realized that most of them do quite well in those rays. At this point, i basically just assume any new plant I get will do best near the window, and gradually move them away as i see how well they tolerate lower light.

All my plants are babies because I can't afford the fully grown ones. Seeing you started with babies and now have full lush plants gives me hope!

At my old my apartment, prior to me convincing them that my outdoor garden *would* in fact *look pretty* and *not* die, the manager said I could 'take my plants out once every couple weeks to get some sun.' As if access to sun is recreational for plants.

I live in the Caribbean, Saint Lucia to be exact... It always struck me as weird that all the plants I grew up with which thrive in outdoor gardens and in FULL tropical sun, that I come to plant IG/YouTube and these “experts” say low light or indirect.

I have a bay window in my room that faces south and gets intense heat even in winter months. All my plants shoot out so much growth and my boyfriend is constantly asking “why are you plants so big and mine don’t even grow?” YOU NEED SOME SUN IN THAT DARK ROOM!

So glad I finally found a channel that talks about the science behind our favorite houseplants!! We love to see it 👏👏

Finally someone talks about this! Some of the care tags on plants are full bullshit and I've always thought that they did it purposefully so that the plant would die and the customer would have incentive to buy them again.

I have an old man cactus, but I don’t need to burn its hair because it’s outside in the south Texas sun. It was recently mauled by a dry tree branch that attempted to kill the old man tho. Thank goodness I intervened before it was too late.

I’m so impressed by your lack of embarrassment or hesitation when pronouncing “Hoya Pubicalyx”. Every other plant person on YT refuses to say PUBIC clearly and confidently. Subscribed AND I hit that BELL. Can’t wait to see more content...
