To correct what everyone is saying, it's not necessarily that she was ugly. Cleopatra's looks just didn't equate to Roman beauty standards which is why she stood out from them. Also, she had a slightly hooked nose which I guess wasn't common in Rome either. She was a very charismatic and mellifluous speaker; extremely intelligent for a woman of her time, knowing math, the sciences, and being able to speak up to 15 languages.
