Some quick tech tips? Now that's a true tech quickie!

Back in the mid-1980s, I was a field tech that used to fly between Chicago and Boston. I used to carry my computer boards and tools in carry-on luggage, and at one point needed to carry some extra parts and tools in a regular cardboard box even though the majority of the parts were already shipped. The looks by the airline and terminal employees was priceless.

I knew Google was tracking my search history, but damn LTT, et tu?
The only question you missed was, "what do I do with the glass side panel on the plane so it doesn't shatter?"

Because of how much I travel for work (and how much frustration I had with laptops having issues) I built a computer specifically designed to be easily transportable. It's roughly the size and shape of a briefcase (even has a handle on the case, thanks Silverstone), has all solid state storage, an ultra-low profile cpu cooler and a small form factor 2070 mounted on a bolt down riser and secured with a bracket. Unless you have a pc specifically designed for travel like this, be super careful traveling with them (even if you're driving not flying. That nasty pothole that spilled your coffee might just dislodge your GPU too)

going through airport security with PC components can be a hassle especially coming back through an international terminal, last time I came back into the states I got stopped by CBP and questioned for an hour 🙄

The issue with graphics cards made me realize why OEM Gaming or Workstation PCs often have braced graphics cards. They need the heavy coolers to cool high performance parts but they don’t want users to have to either install the parts or pull out expanding foam since doing that for 100+ PCs in an office would take a lot of time and Timmy whose parents bought a PC off Best Buy or Walmart, either doesn’t know how to do it or is not comfortable with it.

For the can and cable issue that is exactly why I use fan-grills on a lot of my fans, especially in tight spaces.
and to keep the look for the visible ones I add grills to fans where it is not needed just to keep aesthetics.

I travel from Hawaii to Ohio to visit family quite a bit - I always disassemble my PC and put the parts in my personal item bag and carry them with me at all times. Then the case goes into checked luggage w/ my clothes n such. Never had an issue. Sometimes TSA will want you to put all the components in separate bins, but otherwise, no trouble.

Usually some people will spot my GPU and it actually strikes up some conversations if anyones a gamer.

Lol, I made my ITX gaming pc just to travel on an airplane with it on a backpack.
Been running for three years with no problems, about 50 flights by now.

A series of videos where you explain what specs you should pay attention to in order to compare PC components would be sweet

That Vram one is a good one as my 3070Ti is quick enough for more than the 8GB vram it has. I wondered if not getting more vram when upgrading from my 1080 was a good idea. it wasn't, and i'm regretting it now.

I've been collecting fans by picking up old recycled gaming computers and I have more than enough fans to last me until the end of time

Back-ups suck! Until you need them. Back-up your stuff. Not just your files, many programs allow you to export their settings which can save a lot of hassle if you have to re-install them.

For VRAM, lower texture quality! That's even more important than resolution.

Which paste should I use on a GPU & CPU?
Arctic or Thermal Grizzly?

Great advice on the fans and the detail that thera are sealed ones! That is what i do, you could also mention what type of lubricant to use, as there are many different ones, and show how to properly disassembly it.

1:20 I’ve done that with my newly built pc last year. Bought parts for it on November 2021, went to US on June 2022, built the pc, accepted the fact that I can’t take all the boxes except for my graphics card and sacrificed two luggages; one for monitor, one for entire pc and wrapped it in bubble wrap. I prayed that the PC stayed in one piece once I acquired the luggage with two wheels missing. Fortunately the glass Didn’t shatter and the other side panel took a small hit and no other severe damage. Hammered that back into shape and I’m glad that I could bring it with me.

1:00 if your PC still has fans that arent sealed, you need to throw them away. ALL 'good' PC fans made in the last 15 years have been 100% sealed. You cannot lubricate them.
