How to stop worrying about your grown child// In this video, I will share my personal experience as a coach and a mother, as well as some practical tips on how to stop worrying about your grown child. As someone who has lived through the challenges of an estranged child, I understand how difficult and painful it can be to let go of worry and focus on your own life.
One of the key factors in letting go of worry is finding substance in your own life. As a coach, I've noticed that many moms who worry excessively about their grown children often lack purpose or fulfillment in their own lives. I will share some practical tips on finding substance in your life, so you can let go of the worry and live a more fulfilling life.

I will also address the issue of estrangement and defiant children, and provide guidance on how to handle these situations in a healthy way. Additionally, I will discuss the importance of setting boundaries and taking care of yourself, as well as how to stay connected with your child in a healthy way.

I am not a therapist, but as a coach who has lived through these challenges, I hope that my personal experience and insights will be helpful to other moms who are struggling with worry about their grown children.

I strive to adopt a detached attitude, but I struggle because right when I think I'm good with my detached perspective, my family members guilt me into thinking I'm not a good parent if I'm not trying to be authoritative with my adult child. They mean well and are just trying to help because they see my pain. They don't understand because they have a healthy relationship with their adult child. It's so frustrating. Yes, I've learned that I just can't share with them. Yes, self care and finding the right people who get it - that's the healthy plan. Thank you!

"Your child is not a reflection of your worth"..
It takes ages to remember that your value is NEVER based on your adult N childs ability to recognize it.
Thank you.

Thank you, my adult daughter blames me for nearly everything that is not going right, from the economy to her lack of dating success. I am overwhelmed. 😮

Going through some tough times with my 40-year-old son, who is not making good decisions suddenly for some reason. He lives in another state. This video was very helpful. I am glad I found your channel.

I think you're absolutely right.
It has been very difficult for me to put myself first before my adult children.
I know in my head that it's the right thing to do, and I'm starting to get it.
I know it's necessary for my happiness to live my best life first, then enjoy my kids and grandkids.
I was a stay at home mom for 30 years, my kids were spread out, my oldest is 34, my youngest is 21.
I put them first of course because it was the right thing to do when they were growing up.
But now its the right thing to put myself first!
It's opposite!!!
I never knew I would have to go through this, no one talks about it!
I'm glad I found your channel, you are validating what I'm going through right now.
So when a situation arises with my child or grandchild that would normally worry me, I give it to God and I go worry free now!
And I tell myself, it's not my responsibility anymore, I'm free now!!
And then I make fun plans for myself and my husband, or get together with friends.
This mindset is new to me so it feels selfish at first.
But after serious suffering/depression for a couple of years, I am finally happy again.

Everything you said hits home. Almost 3am and watching this because my mind starts worrying, is she ok, is she safe, why can’t she just respond. I blame myself, had to be me for her to turn out this way, not spending enough time with her and her drug addict friend’s mom was her influence in life. Anger, guilt, fear, shame, sadness, worry. How do you get it to calm down enough to care about anything else. I keep thinking if she’d just talk to me, tell me why this is happening maybe I could get closure. I have hope that she can still be in my life. Maybe if she told me to drop dead I’d let her go. She won’t talk to me at all.

Signed up for yoga yesterday. Finally, after many many weeks of isolation, I am taking myself out to visit a friend today.

Thank you for your insight. I am converting my garden shed into a small art studio. For me, art is therapy. And I also took up lap swimming. I appreciate your videos. I get daily inspiration from your words of wisdom. Thank you again.

or the "What if" thinking all the time....which makes me scared to let go. Sally is right - I found the one-thing that will take me away from wondering/worrying about my adult child every single waking hour of the got back into the horse-world which needs my time, my good energy and my dedication. Something done for ME for once.
