using Frankenstein properly is the cherry on top.

I find it funny that halfway through the song she switched from her love of Pauline to calling her out and Pauline just ignores it.

As an autistic person who's had multiple hyperfixations turn out to be horrible people, the power and writing and acting in this scene... I actually cried because I felt so deeply what Norma was feeling

I love the delivery on "except it's all your fault NOT MINE!" It's so pointed and powerful, and she's so totally right.

Dead End had NO business flexing on us with one of the best animated musicals I've seen in a tv show. Bop after bop and the whole thing came out of nowhere. good.

This song is about someone who hyperfixated on someone because she felt outcasted by the rest of the world and found comfort in someone she idolized and still does, Pauline practically formed who Norma is today and Pauline was an awful person yet Norma still feels love for her and such complex emotions most people of this age feel being represented feels like a breath of fresh air

I would just like to put a spotlight about how much Badyah cares for and understands Norma, that even through a spell she's able to recognise her. Like not even necessarily in a romantic way, soulmates.

This song feels a lot more meaningful now, with how Netflix treated this show. Rest In Peace Dead End. We’ll always miss you.

That last "I'm your monster" and Norma's face is what does it for me, she conveys such utter killing intent

Pauline gave Norma life, like Victor Frankenstein gave his monster life. And both of them were betrayed by the person who gave them life. And so Norma, just like the monster, is now making it her mission to take down her 'creator.' :)

I think this is probably the greatest way media has explained and portrayed the fallout of a parasocial relationship going wrong, when the person you idolized and put on a pedestal and designed a persona and expectations for in your head fails everything in one fell swoop and brings you knowledge of the reality that they’re a terrible person. I still haven’t watched Paranormal Park, or gained context beyond this song, but I feel very seen by this depiction, as stuff like that has happened to me before and I feel like people don’t have as good of an understanding of how parasocial relationships affect people negatively as much as they do positively. I’ll come back here once I’ve watched the show and learned more!

UPDATE: Bingewatched the show, LOGS AND BARNEY EPISODE TEN. FALL OUT MAN (PATRICK STUMP) WROTE ALL THE SONGS INCLUDING THIS ONE. GO WATCH IT NOW

0:37 is a great visual to show how one-sided the relationship is

I see the point about this highlighting the result of a parasocial relationship turning sour, but I think it's incredibly important to keep in mind just how powerful a special interest can be to someone with autism. If you have a topic you've poured you're entire life into that brings you a deep sense of comfort when everything in life is so much harder for you than other people, and then that topic is ruined, it breaks you. Losing the one thing that really resonated with you on such a deep level is like losing a part of yourself. This show is one of the best I've seen in a long time especially with how perfect every aspect of representation is crafted, especially in regards to autism this show goes miles ahead of any other piece of media I've ever seen.

This gives me Rät vibes by Penelope Scott in the idea of the betrayal that comes with having an idol who you look up to and who you spend your life loving and obsessing over just to find out they’re a terrible person. Awesome show and amazing song

I mean, yeah the dangers of parasocial relationships but I think the song also highlights the betrayal you feel when you find out someone you idolize is abusing their power. Like yes an artist is under no obligation to bend themselves to their fanbases whims, but at the same time they have a responsibility not to manipulate their fans to their bidding, pressure them into uncomfortable situations, and basically use them as stepping stones for their own purposes. You shouldnt put people on pedestals but you also shouldnt step on the heads of those bowing to you to stay there. Gotta treat people like people.

Now that's what I call bringing down the house! But this song does a great job of showing how important Pauline was to Norma, and how hurt Norma feels after seeing Pauline's true nature.

I love the "You're my Frankenstein and I'm your monster" for turning the usual association of Frankenstein on its head. The beginning sets up Pauline as a monster while the second line recontextualises her as one irresponsible and culpable.

Where most of the budget went-
As someone who wants to animate the whole scene was just beautiful, first the glass shatter, the smoke, the lighting and wind, not to mention how it relates story wise as Norma watched her idea Pauline crack and crumble around her.referencing Frankenstein because of how she used her fans and she literally uses them as vessels

Let's all remember that the spell was just designed to change Norma's appearance. The singing and the moves....that's 100% her.
