This is a great series! One thing I haven't seen in any other computer vision tutorials is how to physically set things up, like cameras and lighting. I've been working on a project recently that uses edge detection, and I've had a hard time dealing with artifacts and generally a bad lighting setup. Just saying it would be nice to hear about some techniques for better results where more control is possible, i.e. a "lab" environment.

Is this possible to do with a one channel Image? I'm working with MRI images but from what I can gather from the docs and my error messages the actual watershed function takes in 3 channel RGB yet I have intensity images. thanks!
