*NOTE* instead of using slabs around the edge of the farm, you can use leaves to prevent golems spawning on the edges:) golems never spawn on leaves! *ALSO* You only need a single spawning layer to get max spawns now, due to a recent change. What I show at the end of the video is the final version of the farm, and cannot be upgraded more:)

I really hate the feeling when you spend the whole day trying to build it, and when you finally complete it, your waiting for the iron golems and they just never spawn

The weirdest thing just happened. My villagers actually cooperated and went into their cells really easily.

Just a reminder that iron golems only start spawning after villagers work for an ENTIRE minecraft day. So make sure you wait a bit before making any drastic changes. I just built this farm exactly like the video and it does work in the latest update.

This farm is FANTASTIC. I built it with 10 villagers and one layer. It produces half stack of iron in just 4 minutes!
Also put 5 tamed cats around the farm. So it doesn't spawn cats anymore and increases iron golem spawning

I tried to carry a Villager 300 Blocks from a Village to my farm, at the end, he jumped into the water which carried him into the campfire.

I can confirm the farm still works! I did do some modifications following some earlier comments.
- To prevent villagers from being unable to work, I made the villager containment chambers larger. The floor is made out of workstations. I placed water at their feet and i made sure every water was a water source to prevent the villagers from flowing away from their workstations and searching for a new one.

- All the blocks above the spawning platform (slabs) were filled with leaves per Silent Whisperer's video on troubleshooting the farm.
- All the villagers need to be linked to the correct workstation at all times.

I didn't see any golems or cats spawning on the beds so I didn't place any glass blocks above them.
Good luck

ESSENTIAL CHANGES---for me at least. The farm wouldn't work at first (I play on ps4 bedrock if you're wondering). At first, I only did the module with 10 villagers and it was only spawning cats. So I tried to see if it would work with the 20 villager module but still, nothing changed. So I did 2 things to fix it. I removed the glass block that was over the villagers' heads but still kept the slab there, and right away the golems started spawning. I was also searching the comments and saw that some people placed an extra bed so I did that as well but I don't think it did anything. Great farm though it was my first ever successful iron farm. I'm never gonna have to look through those damn caves again :)

Tip: if you don't want cats spawning have 5-10 tamed cats sitting near it this will stop cats spawning and more golem spawn

I’ve been troubleshooting in 1.19, at around 13:38 I had to remove the glass block directly above the villagers head as opposed to leaving it such as you did before I could get any golems to spawn. If you have your work stations on either side and a slab on top it should still keep them inside.

Ok goodbye I am going to spend a few hours getting some villagers into a 1 block hole

Iron farms have always been a problem for me since xbox 360 days. I've learnt so much over that time and still have issues with them but the sound of golems dying when you finally have it working is a feeling that is unparalleled

VERY IMPORTANT: Only getting string? Did you build the farm in its final form? Do not build both villager containment cells at the same time, otherwise villagers can link to work stations at the other end of the farm, they won’t be able to work and golems won’t spawn. Build only one containment cell at first, fill it with villagers and link them to work stations. Then you can build the second containment unit.

NOTE: for anyone that is confused on why the farm isn’t working, here’s your solution. The main problem is probably the villagers. This is because of villagers are in a tight space, so they can’t work. So instead make the capsule a 7 by 2 with water in the capsule. Put the workstation wherever you like and make sure to make it three high with slabs on top. Repeat this on the other side and boom. If this helped please like and if you don’t it really doesn’t matter. Other than this issue the farm is still up and running in 1.20.15
