as a biomed studend aswell i think cancer research is important to study and understand (that might be hard since the complexity of cancer cell line development can be caused by many different mutations) but neurodegenerative diseases are equally or even more important to research in since the lack of effective treatment for the patient.

Thank you for talking about this, I worked in a lab as well and a lot of people have a hard time believing the things you mentioned. Even my lab’s “boss” that managed the entire project made less than $60k per year working insanely long hours + teaching as a professor + managing the entire project. And he also had his work sabotaged by colleagues twice in the past and was super paranoid about everyone in the lab giving up too much info, he would always ask to read our emails to before we sent them. And in the end, the project likely won’t get funding to put the product out because it wouldn’t keep the money flowing for things like chemo. So yeah, it sucks.

It's terrible that human beings would rather sabotage one another in order to claim more credit than eradicate one of the worldwide leading causes of death.
The amount of people it affects, not just the sufferers... you did a good thing being part of it even if it was only for a short amount of time.

That’s so interesting, my chem teacher freshman year worked on a cure, it’s going through trials now but I think will be done soon, I don’t exactly remember much about it but that teacher was smart as hell

I would LOVEE to work as a doctor or anything in the hospital business, I would probably enjoy working as a cancer researcher but one this is is that im dyslexic, I can’t read English or Arabic that well specially Arabic and that’s a problem cuz my main language is Arabic and I can’t really right well like i forgot how to spell things a lottt, and honestly it my dream job but im like 90% sure I’m not gonna make it🙂👍🏼

I’m a biomedical scientist in the nhs and i completely agree about the pay and the labs getting competitive and nasty, and don’t forget the shift work😅(don’t know if research labs do shifts aswell or weekend working) but sometimes I wish I’d been told all this before university
