This video is misleading. The US did not cause Hasina’s fall; it was her own ruthless dictatorship that led to her ouster. If the US wanted the island, they could have secured it without needing to remove Hasina. It’s naive to think that the US would obtain the island simply by ousting Hasina, as if her successor would automatically offer it to them. Hasina’s main opposition, the BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) and the Jamat party (a militant Islamist group), are likely to come to power now. Anyone who believes that an Islamist-leaning BNP would hand over the island to the US is mistaken.
