Is plastic sustainable? The answer may surprise you…

Because plastic is often extremely ‘resource efficient’, it can mean it uses less energy and resources to do the same job as other materials. This can help us lower greenhouse gas emissions…

We just need to ensure we collect, reuse and recycle our plastic, to ensure it never ends up in the environment!

Interesting view but how about the complexity of varying degree of plastic types and most non-recyclable plastics? It is recorded that we currently recycle less than 11% of plastic wastes. So the question is, how can improve efficiency and increase recycling? How do we reduce, avoid or eradicate single-use plastics? How do we manage raw-material specific plastics to ensure efficiency in the recycling process? And majorly reduce to minimum the volume of our plastic waste ending up in our aquatic ecosystem?

I am into technology, but lately during my Masters program, I have been drawn towards interest in sustainability and it is getting interesting and serious as well. We need a lot more awareness and create the environment our children can live in.
