The updated M9 🇺🇸 bayonet, what changed

I know you’re not an original M9 fan, but they’re pure nostalgic bliss for me. I was with the US Marines when the M7 was being phased out in favor of the 9. I never used one on active duty, but I was still enamored with them at the time. But Admittedly, I can see how these newer improvements are worthwhile.

if the m9 had a full tang or even a kabar/mora style rat tang they’d have been so much better of a knife/bayonet

Love the history and relationship you form with one. But trust me, they don't cut concertina wire. 😂 It's more for opening rusty ammo boxes, and bending your tackle buckles in Jump School.

Oy m8, I like the first pattern M9 bayonet due to the flat-screwdriver being positioned on the end of the scabbard rather than at a 45 degree angle for airborne troops. Never a problem for me, whilst (supposedly) they moved said screwdriver to the side of said scabbard. It stabs real good and makes for a great bottle opener for a bottle of Coors. Try you some, and not the "light" version. Cheers and have a pint from an American infantryman. Not much US mainstream beer is good, but Coors ain't terrible. Also, Rolling Rock in the freezer on a hot day is the best. Stay away from Miller and Budweiser. And have a visit in Texas, we have lots of guns to shoot and even a few Aussie L1A1's, although they cost five figures

I'll be the one here to say I like the new one. I like blackened blades for practical use, and the handle is so much better. Cylindrical handles are terrible for any blade because it can mess up edge alignment.

So they actually made it heavier by eliminating the Fuller, which was the number one complaint.

The newer one looks like a cheap knock off😮until you see the stamping. Give me the original any day 💪🏻
