Hard to respect anyone that doesn't "get" the electoral college and the founding fathers reason for creating it.

The reason behind the electoral college was to assure meaningful representation of widely varying demographics and their unique needs and interests. Not much unlike today's "diversity" and "inclusion" ideology.

The intent was to keep largely populated states (such as New York and California) from running rough shot over less populated states and their unique needs and interests.

Funny how there wasn't much objection to the electoral college until it resulted in somebody getting elected the opposite so fervently hated.
