WHAT DOES THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS BELIEVE:

Main Theme: Integrity is an essential Christlike attribute, vital for individuals navigating an increasingly complex world. It requires us to be true to God, to others, and to our divine identity.

Key Points:

Christ as the Exemplar: Jesus Christ exemplified perfect integrity, remaining true to His divine nature and His covenant with God, even in the face of unimaginable suffering. This act demonstrated His unwavering commitment to God and His love for humanity.
"As the Only Begotten of the Father, Jesus Christ had power over death, pain, and suffering but did not shrink. He fulfilled the covenant He had made with His Father and, in doing so, manifested a Christlike attribute increasingly important in the world in which we live—the attribute of integrity. He remained true to God, to each of us, and to His divine identity."

Integrity and Love: Integrity is intrinsically linked to the two great commandments: loving God and loving our neighbor. It stems from a deep love for God, leading to obedience and adherence to His truths.
"Integrity flows from the first great commandment to love God. Because you love God, you are true to Him at all times. You understand that there is right and wrong and there is absolute truth—God’s truth."

Integrity in a World of Shifting Standards: While the world often promotes fluid moral codes and situational ethics, true integrity remains anchored in God's unchanging truth. This steadfastness sets individuals apart and allows them to reflect God's light.
"The oppositional pull of this world is an essential part of God’s plan of salvation. How we respond to the pull is the essence of who we are—a measure of our integrity."

Integrity in Action: Integrity is more than mere words; it requires consistent action aligning with professed beliefs. It fosters trust, strengthens faith, and demonstrates a commitment to God's will above personal gain or recognition.
"Saying we have integrity is insufficient if our actions are inconsistent with our words. Likewise, Christian kindness is not a substitute for integrity. As a covenant people, and as leaders of His Church, we must be beyond reproach and aligned with the standards the Lord has set."

Integrity and Divine Identity: Recognizing and embracing our divine heritage as children of God is crucial for cultivating integrity. It enables us to resist deception, stand firm in our convictions, and live authentically.
"In contrast, the Prophet Joseph Smith confidently proclaimed, ‘I knew it, and I knew that God knew it, and I could not deny it.’"

Conclusion:

Elder Gerard's address underscores the vital importance of integrity in today's world. It is a call to emulate Jesus Christ, standing firm in our commitment to God, demonstrating genuine love for others, and living in alignment with our divine identity. Cultivating integrity strengthens individuals, builds trust within communities, and ultimately allows us to better reflect God's light to the world.

I might add one point of correction to what was said here. Integrity does not mean defending your beliefs. Integrity means taking responsibility for your beliefs and the distortions produced by them. Integrity often requires the dissolution of beliefs (psychological programming) so that your authenticity can shine through.
