First, I want to take the time to give you some background information on myself. Previously, I decided to deny the responsibilities of gun ownership but, I recently have taken that responsibility back for myself with the recent events within our country. I was wrong to give the responsibilities of protecting my life solely on someone else and/or our government. My Goal in uploading these YouTube videos is to first learn how to defend myself, peers & family members if the time presents itself in a safe & efficient manner while, educating & showing you my experiences (good & bad), by taking this new responsibility of gun ownership. Let you and I learn & discuss together how to defend ourselves safely. Thank You

For a self proclaimed "beginner", you did an excellent job with your video. Better than many self proclaimed "gun experts".
Congratulations on your choice to become your own "first responder". We need more people to take responsibility for their own safety.

This is a great gun for first timers. Double spring reduces the recoil. Easy to clean and maintain. Love it.

The chamber loaded indictor, the striker cocked indicator and the grip safety are all features that I would not be it

I’m in the same boat as you. CA resident and purchased my first gun in the last 4 months. I went with the XD45 in the 4” service configuration. I absolutely enjoy shooting this handgun. Took a handful of classes already and have never had an issue with it. It is very controllable and isn’t as snappy as people might believe. The XD9 in the compact frame might be my next purchase for CCW.

I would use Snap Caps/Dummy rounds to show loading indicators, don't want to chance any accident.

First of all congratulations on your first step and becoming a gun owner. Nice explanation about the safety features of the gun. I am a firearms instructor and I will like to give you some constructive comments if possible. 1. Never, never, never point the gun on people or in your direction and especially not to your face even when you are 100% sure that there is no bullet in chamber. 2. Never, never, never when you present weapons use live bullets unless you intend to shoot it. You can get dummy balls for this demo. 3. When you check/inspect if the weapon is unloaded there are three steps. A. Remove a magazine from the weapon. B. Pull the slide back hold it open and inspect visually via ejection port the barrel enterence that there is no bullet inside the barrel. C. Face the gun to a safe place that meets the definition penetrates, does not pass, does not return ricochets or flakes (bucket with sand for example) and only than pull the trigger. My comment was not of disrespect to you, but of safety firs, concern and respect to you. Good luck with your next guns and video clips.

I've owned my XD mod 2 for about 4 years now. Put about 5k rounds through it and had one loading malfunction. Very reliable. My sub compact is perfect for conceal carry and the longer mag option is great for range days. No complaints.

I own a few Glocks. Been wanting and waiting to jump on a XD9/40 (CA gun purchasing is insane rn) I want the best of both worlds. Thanks for the video. Peace.

I totally agree. As a first time gun owner, the Croatian Sensation is the right gun for me.

Long time XD owner. I have an XD45 and an XD9 (wife's actually). They've been 100% reliable and solid and easy to shoot and get back on target.
As far as training goes, look into Front Sight in Nevada. They're great and over 4 days can help beginners ramp up in understanding and proficiency and being comfortable carrying a loaded weapon.

Great video! It's important for those new to the firearms world to know some very basic things to look for in a first purchase. You hit the nail on the head here.
I've owned 6 XDs, total, and I own 3 right now. I love the way they shoot, and the quality of hte manufacturing. Super reliable, and that's important for ANY shooter!
I should add that I also own 5 Glocks, and several other brands (including IWI, Walther, Stoeger, Ruger, Grand Power, Beretta, etc.). I know my way around handguns, and I've been shooting for more than 40 years now.
The bottom line is that my everyday carry is a Springfield XD 9 "Defender" sub-compact. Nothing fancy, just super reliable, great to shoot, and very concealable. The fact that a sub-compact pistol with a 3.3" barrel can carry 14 rounds of 9mm is incredible.
Don't hesitate if you're on the fence about purchasing an XD. It's a truly fine weapon. You won't regret it.

My XDM Elite, 9m was my first gun ever, for the very same reasons of multiple safety features, and i LOVE it. I happen to have a 22rd mag, of course its pinned 10 for NJ, but in case i move!!... I bought mine for the very same reasons you state above. Can't count on anyone coming to the rescue if your home is being intruded. I wanted to have more than a throwing knife!

My first gun was a Smith and Wesson 9 mm. It was perfect for my small hand. The XD9 is my fiancé’s gun, but since I no longer have my S&W, I needed to learn this gun. The safety’s had put me off a little, because I couldn’t find any video’s that went into the detail you did in this video. I caught on quickly, thanks to familiarizing myself beforehand. You did a great job with your delivery! I’m much more at ease now. Can you do a video of you breaking the gun down and cleaning it? Thanks for taking the time to make this video. If I have to defend my home or the people I love, I won’t have that nagging hesitation! New sub!

Hey! Got my gun and put a few rounds like 1000 rds. My gun came stiff ass a brick, Could barely rack it! I had to oil it up and clean it! .It's light years better! I called Springfield about the case it was to come in and they sent me a new one...it's dope! Glad to see yuzzz back on the video scoop! Hit me up when you have time.

First of all, great video. I was also apposed to having a gun in my home. However, you summed it up exactly why I made the exact purchase. I had no idea of what type of hand gun to buy. I actually made my decision because this was really the only 9mm with a 4in barrel, which was one of the most important factors for me. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. Now I have to take a class, and learn how to fire the weapon. I guess I just got lucky with this one. I really like all of the safety features, and how easy disassembly of this pistol. I look forward to seeing your next video. Thanks again, and stay safe. Robert.
