would have prefered a less flashy ad and a more exact demonstration of the color change.

I RECANT....lol... OK I figured it out... i watched a zillion videos and even checked with TEFAL (who were useless actually) So, On the OUTER RED RING OF THE THERMO DOT, is a pattern of small darkish squares/rectangles. As the pan heats, those little dark squares fade/lighten up almost completely, to make the red ring seem like 1 solid colour. THAT is what we you can be watching for. Good Luck with yours.

at what °C does it change to solid red?

Isn't that red logo toxic as it may wear out after some time and mix with food?

This video does not do what it promises to do... instead it just creates confusion.

For those who are annoyed that Tefal is showing its Thermo-Spot in action _"without explaining it!"_
The Thermo-Spot's function is described in the first 10 seconds of the video (you might not be ready for the whole truth in that short period of time). More in-depth information...

"Non-stick coating with Thermospot Technology
Tefal cookware comes both with and without Thermo-Spot technology. Should your pan have a heat indicator like the ones shown, this will tell you when the pan has reached the optimum cooking temperature (red spot approx 180°C, green spot 140°C).
When either the outer pattern or the whole spot turns solid red (depending on the design) reduce the heat to maintain the temperature. Do not continue to heat the pan on a high heat as this will result in the pan and the non-stick surface becoming overheated."

... *even with different images that are showing the evolution of that spot*

Sucky video. Just got finished trying to find my Red Spot but the pan was getting way to hot at 6.5 on a peak 9 electric. Hate electric. I finally threw in a piece of meat and in short time it was starting to burn. Don’t think I’ll be using T-Fal’s little dot indicator for browning.

I'll bet they actually paid someone a lot to do this, then they asked them if it was effective, they said yes & got paid. Must be nepotism, 'cause it's difficult to believe an executive to be this by mistake.
Synopsis: MANY are finding the red "T" circle area does not change and they would like you to FOCUS on that thought and then tell them why in a reply.
My recently purchased Thermo-Spot skillet does not change either.

Yeah i just bought a Jamie Oliver Tefal Thermo Spot and it DOES NOT CHANGE COLOUR, NO matter how hot you make the pan. The pan cooks ok, but you have to put oil in it, its not non-stick by itself. Stupid rubbish. This whole thing is just a sales pitch. i thought Tefal had a good reputation, which is why i bought it. i'm suprised Jamie Oliver would put his name on something that doesn't work as advertized. DIsappointed.

Here I am, thinking of all of the R&D money spent on the red spot, and Jamie Oliver's generous endorsement fee, and then I watched the rubbish vid which told me NOTHING. As we say here in canada, WTH.

Useless video.. All I want to see is the colour the spot turns to and the temperature range. This video did not tell me that

Darn AWFUL video! Just show me a before/after shot of the flippin' 'red spot' feature so I know what I'm looking for.! I know what food looks like when chucked into a frying pan...
