Gale Banks has partnered with The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum to offer Tech Talks in conjunction with the Twilight Cruise Nights car show. The Tech Talks are a series of monthly educational automotive seminars with industry leaders.

This second topic is "Air Superiority--Sometimes it's good to be dense," which covers how intake density is the key to power. Whether you're just getting into the world of internal combustion or you're a seasoned gearhead, you're bound to learn some new things about the past, present, and future of engine technology.

Come back for "Tech Talk 3: Life after Wide Open Throttle--Turbocharging & Supercharging" which deals with forced induction-what it is exactly, how to use it properly, and how to measure it scientifically.

Glad you like them. Sorry for the delay--we're all in SEMA prep mode around here lately--but we promise we'll try to get it up ASAP.

The video for Tech Talk #3 should be posted here sometime within the next few days. Gale's next live seminar is #6, and that takes place at the NHRA Museum in Pomona on October 2nd. Thanks for watching!

It's NOT "pumping" 974 CFM, it's DISPLACING 974 CFM. What it's actually 'pumping' will depend on the overall VE.
Apart from that, Mr Banks is a damn smart gentleman!

Doesn't a restrictor plate and throttle plate reduce the VOLUMETRIC EFFICIENCY???  The air density is what it is at the location the engine is running. Higher altitudes and hotter air reduce the ambient density.  A cold air/ram air intake and insulating the air intake tubing and the intake itself from the hot underhood temp will help maintain that set air density to the intake valve. AND, don't forget that volumetric efficiency also effects the Dynamic compression ratio of an engine. An engine is a Thermal air pump. Low restriction low temp air into the engine plus compressing that mixture to just below the detonation limit of the engine plus a low restriction exhaust will net the best BSFC for that engine.

I would hope that in future videos that Peter refrain from talking over Gale and interrupting him finish his sentences. Also, repeating things just said by Gale makes zero sense and helps little. That said, good intro about air density and it's importance to finding all of the performance possible for an engine.

Why won’t that guy stop interrupting! It’s unwatchable

how come everyone that hosts Gale Banks babbles like a fool and doesn't let the master speak? Like interrupting God himself..
