Units of Middle Earth - The Citadel Guards LORE DOCUMENTARY

Показать описание

In this lore documentary we explore the Units of Middle Earth by taking a closer look at the Fountain Guard of Gondor. Theirs was a long history which dated back to the founding of Numenor. In these early days of the second age, the high men which forged a realm atop the Isle of Elena were led by a line of Kings. Such rulers had at their side not only a council to provide wisdom but also a guard to see to their safety. Part of this responsibility was extended to the White Tree of Numenor which stood as a symbol of the realm.

Following the Fall of Numenor, the tradition of the Guard would be continued by the line of Numenoreans who escaped to establish the Kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor in Middle Earth. We trace their long history through the Second Age and into the Third Age which climaxed with the War of the Ring. We cover the equipment, organization, and service history of the Fountain Guard throughout this long period. In this way do we also cover the History of Gondor from the reign of the Kings, to the line of Stewards, and finally the Return of the King. We cover the various wars with Morder, the Easterlings, and Umbar with such conflicts as The Battle of Gladden Fields, The Battle of Pelennor Fields, and the Siege of Minas Tirith.

What Units of Middle Earth would you like to see us cover next?

If you haven't already, check out our History of Middle Earth video which serves as a primer for lord of the rings lore from creation to the second age.

An honour to be given an opportunity to work alongside Invicta. A fitting swan song indeed. Thank you.

I love it! However I think it should be mentioned if following the books or the movies as Tolkien never mentioned them having plate armor. I do love movie's vision, the same used in this video, but I think it is an important distinction to make.
Next I would LOVE to see video about Houses of Gondolin, especially Order of Fountain, their leader Ecthelion and how they marched clad in white, diamond and silver, playing their flutes!

Magnificently done, as usual. Please make something on the Elven army or Dwarf troops, they've both looked cool at the Battle of Five Armies)

Excellent video Invicta! It is great to hear Galudirithon's voice again! Give him my regards!

I hope to see the Noldor swordsmen in a future video. The elves are excellent archers, but I hear how the elves, especially the Noldor high elves had the most lethal swordmasters in Middle Earth

When Denethor wants to enter the throne room every morning, he asks the Fountain Guard for their permission

We already have a sense of how the late 3rd age Gondor soldiers look like. It would be interesting to see a similar breakdown video for the late 2nd age or the early 3rd age Gondor/Arnor soldiers and their armies, at the peak of their might.

"it would be from the inside that the strength of men would falter."
its always such a lovely line. ripe with doom, but Tolkien really did get people. any manner of exterior threat, and you can find countless examples of people rising above and beyond. but there is no seemingly unconquerable threat as moral character rotting away to wickedness and deceit.

There he is! Arachir Galuditrithion! I had a gut feeling that you may have done another collab when I saw this was a Lotr video. Normally I put these on watch later for when I have more time, but I simply couldn't resist once I saw it was a collab with him. Awesome work both of you!

It would be awesome if you could do the Knights of the Silver Swan and all the other Gondorian Regional units such as the Axemen of Lossarnach, Ithilien Rangers, Pelargir Marines, and such.
