noticed that most people that get a 944 daily drive it but don't recommend daily driving it but still do it anyway. That means I gotta get one as my daily.

My 83’ 944 is a second car. I have restored to its former glory and frankly…your video makes a lot of sense. I drive the car for fun. I have zero desire to leave it somewhere in a parking lot and having the potential of it getting smacked by another car or a grocery cart. I try to put about a 100 miles a month on the car, then it heads back into the garage. I have no desire to take it to car shows either. I did once and had to hear lip service from other Porsche snobs and people call my 944 NOT a REAL Porsche since it’s water cooled. This car is a REAL Porsche and in MY opinion is the best looking one they’ve ever made. I bought this car selfishly…for ME. It’s my dream car and I am glad I have a near perfect, early model because it’s manual everything.

As its my first car, I drive mine daily. Around 98000 miles and still running like new.

Full disclaimer: Despite sounding so negative in the video, I still love this car. Zipping around on the back roads in this thing is the best, It's just city/highway driving that's so bad. It would make a great second car if I could afford more than one!

(And remember to subscribe for daily project car updates and new car reviews)

I've managed to convince myself that I'm wasting my 924s on normal driving. So I tend to use it for little "trips to the store", with a 20-30 mile loop...just to keep the rust off of the rotors.

When I first got my 1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabrio it had less than 60k miles on it I daily drove it for 7 years. I took my S2 on several long trips Las Vegas, Mexico and Yosemite very comfortable but hey I'm not tall like you. My S2 has 300.000K on it today and I still drive it on weekends. Also have a 931 Turbo that has 140, 000 K. So heck yeah these are daily drivers.

I'm not trying to dump on you but you seem to have a less than enthusiast take on it. I was hoping you'd talk about the mechanical and upkeep side because I'm looking at getting a 944 for a daily, but I was surprised how much you ragged on it. I live in Florida too so AC is a must, but other than that. I drive a 1986 Nissan 300zx and it's been my daily for the better part of 6 years. Great car to daily. Responsive ride, smooth steering (even with no power), good radio, and nice comfortable seats. Not the fastest but not the slowest, just enough to have fun everyday.

Hopefully someone else can chime in here about the reliability side. My dad used to be a porsche mechanic and had 2 944s, but that was when I was a kid

If you can drive a VW stick, you can drive a 944, a Great car, fun to drive, full of pep. get away from automatic transmissions and return to control and skill of driving. Period.

Hello everyone I’m looking to buy one of these here in michigan. Most should know it snows quite a bit. How is the average repair cost and is it difficult to drive in the snow?

It seems like if you hadn't modified the suspension you could daily it.

What the hell you're talking about? You need to fix your car's rattle and suspension for a smoother ride. My daily car is '89 944 turbo and it's a blast to drive.

it's great for occasional drives, but obviously not a top choice as a daily commuter. The premise is moot really.
