I would go for the M1 Air with RAM/storage upgrades, or shoot for the 14 Pro with the base config of 16/512 and a 120 Hz display.

I was playing Diablo 3 for mac I think I went from 80% battery down to 72% percent not plug in while gaming for 40-45 mins I was quite impressed by the battery life on the Macbook Air M2.

I have the MBA/M2/8GB/500GB and love it, its as cold as stone while using and I'm never troubled by charging as it lasts all day and left on charge during the night, but then I basically only surf, write and tinker with database software, and having edited and encoded a few videos myself I'd only need to upgrade if I was a heavy content creator.

I plan to wrap the Mac in vinyl to prevent scratching and was going to coat the whole thing thinking I don't need to cut the vinyl to gain access to the SSD or RAM but then I remembered the battery, now that's bound to need replacing within a few years with regular use.

I'm a sucker for repairability and open-source software so the MacBook wouldn't really make sense for me.
I'm hoping for a refresh of the PineBook Pro with a newer SoC (like the Rockchip RK3588), more RAM and a backlit keyboard. With faster charging and more ports, it would be the best device for me.

Obviously it is a great laptop, being apple it integrates all the best technologies in the market. But, does the average user needs all that stuff for that PRICE? For those money you can buy absolute monster laptops

If I were the simple-minded user of your sketch, I would still prefer the M1 air for its lack of notch but reject both the M1 and M2 versions for their tiny arrow keys. --robert jasiek

OOOO.... Ok, I admit it, I WAS thinking the same snark as the opening joke actually pulled. :)
"Apple, for people who don't want to think."

It's unfair of course, but when I get into... discussions... with Apple fans (disclosure: I own a MacBook Pro, a Mac mini, an iPad and an iPhone and was a Mac developer for 17 years), INEVITABLTY the discussion becomes "Apple vs ALL of the PC market (by which we mean the very worst PCs out there as if no one makes good ones)" and how they don't have to choose or worry about details with Apple.

I really want to sell a car or a house or any insurance to these people. :)

Apple makes excellent computers (mostly - butterfly keyboards anyone?) but so do other companies. Apple has nothing that competes directly with a Surface Pro, for example, or ANY 2-in-1 convertible. And sorry, but macOS/iOS/iPadOS is nice, but not everyone likes the locked down style, and the reality is that there are things Windows just does better - and things Linux does better and things macOS does better. It's going to come down to personal style and preferences and the kinds of tasks you do and the software you need to do them.

In the end, stop trying to make it about having "the best" and instead make it about "the best for me".
