Use Two Sensors to Trigger Your SmartThings Security System!

In this video, I'm going to show you how to configure the #SmartThings Security monitor in your smart home to use a voting scheme. It'll show you how to use two different sensors to trigger your alerts, but also how to trigger those two devices to trigger other functionality (like a camera recording). You can do a ton with the new SmartThings application, and this is just one example of that.

Enjoy your #smarthome #security setup with dual sensors here in our tutorial video!

Thanks for watching, and please subscribe below!

Good explanation! I did not know SmartThings was this detailed. I may need to look into it further. Thanks!

Great ideas always. Arlo is not being recognized as a siren anymore by Smartthings (Home Monitor). I'm using a "security light" and trigger the Arlo Siren using IFTTT. THANKS A LOT.

Hi, I am in the UK and am looking for good outdoor and indoor sirens to use with my sensors when they are triggered when i arm them - which ones would you recommend to use please? Thanks

Looks great as a basic theft deterrent. Is there a way to easily switch between Home/Stay/Away without the need to access the app everytime? A SmartThings-compatible Zigbee keyfob maybe?

Well it was totally super as always! I tried to get her to sign up for patreon. She tried only do it for a dollar for me until she figured out how to do she said she doesn't think she got it done. Not sure how much you'll see me over there because I don't know how much reading and how much it'll do me any good but we're more than glad to support you. But you are a Canadian! LOL Canadians are rich... American dollars about worth pennies. So enjoy the pop money. I'll try to get her to change it I hope it got there. I'm glad to see you are going through redundancy. Because that is very very important! I get the idea you have done this longer than just reading it out of a book. Which makes you very interesting! And I truly enjoy listening to you. And I truly enjoy working with the people an Amazon because they seem to have the basics and when I talked to them they can provide my I T Department that takes care of this building with the direct idea what I want in my condo. And everything works so smoothly! And by the way you are saving me so much money because my friend told me that the help leaves on lights in my laundry room my bathroom and in my hallway all the time I have installed new SmartThings sensors that shut the lights off after they leave. I didn't know they were on! and I imagine there will be a large Savings in my power bill! be good to your family! Take care and our very best from Illinois

Will hue sensors work with Nest Security, or should I just get the Nest security and use it's sensors to turn lights on?

I'm having trouble getting our phones to sound an audible/obvious alarm when our Smartthings security system is triggered. What can I do to get the phone to light up and go crazy if there's an intrusion/break in? I need it to sound a siren on the phone such that it can't be discarded as just a regular notification/text

Great tutorial.
Can you use both the classic and the new smartthings app at the same time?

instead of having a security lamp, or whatever, you can use a virtual switch to trigger IFTTT, you have to use the smart things classic App to create that though.

Great information to solve a common problem. Is this security system ADT SmartThings? I went to look up Smart Things Security System and all i found was ADT SmartThings. Some have commented that this is hard to set up. Do you have this system? I assume you do. Is it good once you set it up? I put abode in one of my rental properties. I like it so far. But it doesn't have a few features. I assume Smartthings will allow you to attach any random device to the system to make it work as you'd like. Is that true? But that also makes me wonder about vulnerabilities.

Thanks Brian. Those DC Comics First Editions are just replica's or pictures of I assume?

Aowsome as usual, but guess you could add a virtual device to trigger something in ifttt rather than a real device
