How To level Sunken CONCRETE STEPS | DIY

DIY how to lift concrete steps. These steps started to sink due to the angle iron attached to the block failing. These steps are a hollow core precast. I prefer to use scissor or bottle jacks to lift the steps.

This is exactly what my idea was...so I set out to google how to level sinking concrete steps to see if my idea was realistic and here it is! Thank you!

I wish I possessed on quarter of your ambition. A decade of sucked it out of me.

These videos must be nearly doubling your workload. Yet are very instrumental for those learning the trades. Gotta hand it to you. A jack of all trades.

Thanks for the step-by-step instructions, no pun intended lol. Both my front and back concrete stairs are off, but not for long!

I'm a Ryobi girl too ❤. I have this exact problem, good idea with the jacks!!! I think I'll scooch some gravel up under mine, maybe some sand if possible. I hope it's hollow 😩

Good work. I have to jack some up and fortunately there is a basement and ledge underneath i am going to put treated wood underneath sitting on flat concrete blocks like you did.

This will work as a patch but what you really need here is a concrete slab to have those steps built upon, they’ll slowly just sink back into the dirt over time.

Dear Handy Landy: Every DIY video should start out with the list of tools needed, cost, time, training, and patience -- the viewer would turn away. Thinking about the above will make him fart!

This is great for a temporary fix. Over time (could be one year or five years) the stairs will be facing the same issue. This method does not address why the issue occurred in the first place, or how to prevent it from happening in the future.

Any ideas for doing this with a staircase that's already sitting on concrete? I don't think I can dig underneath the staircase, I think I need to find a way to get under the staircase, on top of the concrete slab.

Outstanding, I’ve got an entire concrete staircase that’s settled towards the basement and water is leaking in. I’ve tried sealing the cracks with masonry caulking and patch. But it never lasts. I was thinking about pouring concrete on steps near wall to level out. I don’t know 🤷‍♂️

If you look at the beginning of your video, the top of the stairs should be level with the top of the first course of bricks.

How many degrees need the steps to the front for water flow

I was wondering what you were going to put underneath it to hold it up. I've seen people use foam. Concrete seems like it might work but maybe both?
