Robots, androids, and cyborgs are terms that are often confused by many people. Some people will claim that a robot is somehow similar to an android, while others say it is different. On the other hand, a cyborg is an entirely different term. However, when it comes to cyborgs, people claim that they are closely related to androids. Pretty simple.
Robot: automata/machine who is designed to do a specific job
Android: robot with humanoid form and mostly with personality programed
Cyborg: human modified with machine/robots parts

WRONG. The original source of the word Robot is Slavic from "robotika" ="hard worker/manual labor, " but through later Czechoslovakian came to have the sense of "forced labor and drudgery (I.E. slave and slavery)." It was later adopted and applied to any machine designed to take over specific types of work and functions. In techincality even a motor vehcile is a robot because it replaces such as horses and other livestock. Robots with roughly humanoid shapes are not true Androids. Android comes from Greek :Andro" = man and Latin derived 'Id" = Likeness and therefore simply means man-like or human like. Even a "statue that looks identical to a human" falls in this context but the true sense of Android is a machine created to look, think and act "like" a human. The word "Droid" dropping the first "An" part is Made-up by George Lucas for Star Wars. A Cyborg is simply any biological life form that has integration of synthetic parts be they limbs or organs or tissue. A Machine to which biological parts are added is also a Cyborg only to a point. However, if you introduce a fully living brain like that of an animal or human to said machine as a vehicle for its survival then it becomes a true cyborg even if over time various neurons are replaced with such as silicone based ones for storing and preserving accessible memory and consciousness.

Cyborgs. Part digital circuitry & part life? Is that right? That sounds a lot more interesting than just robots or even androids. What if an adult human head with intact brain could be grown to then attach to an android body? Maybe the android body would need to have the equivalent of a spine & nervous system. But then its not much different than a person, except maybe the whole growing up bit can be dispensed with. There's also the question of, if it is partly alive as in cyborg, is there a soul that fuses with it during its initial growth? My Theory (The General Theory of Equal Opposites) is that only living tissue with thoughts can have a soul, because there are two layers of evolution in every life form, a Darwinian DNA thought level & a soul at the same thought level (with the soul using the body to evolve to a higher thought level in that lifetime). In this respect I don't think anything mechanical/electrical will ever have a soul. Therefore cyborgs would be the ultimate mimic of a person, but how far off is that? What if in the future someone fell in love with a cyborg but society made fun of them? That might make a good plot for a movie. "Look, he's with his cute little cyborg. How cute is that, ha ha ha!"
