This makes so much sense. It’s the reason I understand as well to rejoice in our suffering because it’s him actually helping us to surface and wheat out the things that don’t belong there and to build us up better 😂 That Holy Renovation. Man I love Jesus ❤ It hurt but I’m glad he loves us enough to put us in the fire, we must accept it as love, our God is rooting for us and he knows we will make it through. Love you all!

There are two ways to get rid of the impurities in our character. The first is the painful route of purifying by fire. This is what this paster is describing. It comes through trial, discomfort, and pain, and often against our will. The second is through water. This is merciful and painless, but it is uncomfortable. As you pour the living waters of Christ in our lives through the scripture and other inspired works, service to others, and service to the church, we wash away our impurities through the atonement. They come up and are washed away.
Stop being the person who needs them burned out of you and be the one who washes them away. You will still need some burned away, but it will be less often.

I own it. My parents did their best, but they had impurities due to harm, it was passed down and we developed our own. We think we're doing better as my parents did and we can just encourage our kids to do better.

Just like many people struggle with, say porn, or cleptomania or whatever, I struggle with a short fuse. That's the one thing I have been working on for years and years and years. Even though it's much better than say 10 years ago, there are still things that happen that make me snap in an instant. My prayer is that God will help me overcome it.
