OK, so now that it's on, how do you summon/ trigger it? Squeezing the device does nothing, and pressing the power key (as you would on a Pixel) ALSO does nothing.

Exactly my thought. I don't want to activate by voice I want a push and hold. Button.
My home button is hidden as I use gestures to go back forward home etc. Is there no shortcut icon I can put on my screen to just tap and assistant opens.? That would be nice, ... thanks....

Okay explanation but it's way to difficult to follow with all that loud music. Tone it down and I'll subscribe.

This didn’t do a damn thing. My Google Assistant was already on from the get-go. I did all this for nothing and still The Google will not respond to me when I call it, I’m going back to Apple I never had to deal with this shit with Siri.

In the same settings turn on "Hey Google & Voice Match" and go through that setup voice matching thing. Then you just have to say that.

Also there's a way less convoluted way to get to this. Just go to settings, then Google, then Settings for Google apps, then Search, Assistant & Voice.

Now I'll give you two options if you want to add a button for it. If you just want to replace the long press on the side key to open Google Assistant instead of Bixby (easiest), or if you'd prefer a long press of another button like volume up instead.

Option A: Replace Bixby with the side key:
1. Download Good Lock from the Galaxy Store.
2. In the "Life up" section download RegiStar
3. In RegiStar select the Side-Key press and hold action
4. Turn it on and select "Access your google voice assistant"

Option B: Add an icon for Google Assistant:
1. Download Google Assistant from the Google Play store
2. Now you have an icon you can press to activate it, congrats.

Option C: Add Google Assistant to a different key:
1. Download Google Assistant from the Google Play store (I know you already technically have it but it needs to specifically be an app)
1. Download Good Lock from the Galaxy Store.
2. In the "Life up" section download Routines+
3. In Routines+ select "Run a touch macro"
4. Under Click the - under the option in If then click "+ Add Condition"
5. Select "Button action" choose the Side, Volume Up, or Volume Down then either "Double press" or "Press and hold"
5. Under Then select Apps then "Open an app or do an app action" then select "Open Assistant" and save
6. Give it a name like "Open Google".

I personally prefer to combine B+C as I like to have the long press of the side key as the power down menu.
