Is there a difference between using assistant by holding the home button and voice activation for tasks? I can only make calls after voice activation but for other commands, it says "Sorry, I didn't catch that" but if I say the same thing after holding the home button it works. is phone calls the only thing I can command g. assistant without touching the phone?

Thank you Brett. I have the icon assistant on my home screen, however about 1 week ago it stopped working and directs me to the playstore to download. In my settings it shows that I have downloaded. Why doesn't the icon work anymore. I have a Samsung galaxy A 32. I have used the assistant for everthing especially in researching gardening tips and plant info. I am lost. Gone to my tmobile carrier and they tried to help but gave me a phone number for Google and made me more confused. I just want to be able to touch my assistant icon on my home page to ask questions. Do you know if Google assistant has changed in past week? Everything is turned on when I go into assistant settings. I am a senior citizen and need a simple fix! Hope u can help. Thanks
