Flying British Airways Premium Economy in 2024

In this video, we’ll take a look at British Airways Premium Economy aboard their Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Long been a class of interest to many, Premium Economy has been with us for some time. British Airways debuted the cabin around the turn of the millennium and its long posed the question to the vast majority of travelers, is it really worth the extra over and above an economy ticket?

This video will give an insight into whether it’s worth an additional fee and more importantly, how much more…

Overall, a really solid performance from BA. The service was excellent, cabin in good shape and entertainment broadly on point. Catering as ever in the cabin was really good. I’ve actually had a number of meals about British Airways Premium Economy that have rivaled Business Class offerings from a number of carriers.

In terms of areas for improvement, it would be great to see them roll out the absolute latest seat across the older Dreamliner fleet, the inclusion of the calf rests makes for a much better sleeping experience. Furthermore, the unresponsive seat back entertainment screens ideally need looking at.

There are some nice touches like the menu and the amenity kit which add to the experience and make it feel more "premium". Would be interesting to experience the seat and the service in a full cabin however as I generally find that lightly loaded flights are more enjoyable and the crew have more time to devote to each passenger.

Sadly can't travel anymore due family members poor health. Love BA. My wife passed out on a daylight flight from Cape Town to Heathrow. We will never forget the kindness and caring from the Captain and crew. They even contacted us at our hotel a day later to ensure my wife was OK. Sadly BA no linger flies locally within South Africa.

Brilliant review.... I enjoyed Premium from London to Cape Town, and you are right, the Upgrade is very worth it. I do think having to pay for seat selection with BA is very cheeky though.

I flew back from Washington on October Ba premium economy. Well the upgrade for the extra room, nice food and service. Also being served before economy means it's a restful flight at night. Thanks for a positive but honest review

It looks pretty much the same as when I flew it last time a few years ago. I did get a glass of bubbly for takeoff back then, that's a must haha!

We flew premium economy to Vancouver with BA in August, it was Absoulute crap and a waste of money. In both directions they ran out of our choice of food, we could not eat the other two choices. They say two meals, the "Second Meal" on way out was a wrap, on return flight it was a tiny bacon & egg bap with a choice of water or orange juice, the tea was brought round later. The flight out ended up 12 hours because a crew member on the way to the runway fell, so we had to go back to the gate.
The seats are wide and with plenty of leg room but if the person in front reclines their seat you can't get out if yours, the arm rest on the aisle seat is fixed. I can't sit for long as I had a major cancer operation years ago and sitting after an hour gets very painful, the female in front of me reclined her seat, and fell asleep, I was trapped for nearly five hours I was in agony. On the return flight it was not as bad they only slept for a couple of hours. So it was not worth the extra money plus we paid for our seats will never fly long haul with BA again. Over the years I have flown all over the World these were the worst flights I have ever been on.

Only downside to your water starter, no sparkling/champagne camera toast! 😀 Another super review. BA PE is nice, but the seat recline may be too nice. If someone reclines in front of you, it can be tight. Still, if the premium over Economy is reasonable, it's definitely worth the upgrade. Btw, great to see your comments/subscriber count increasing - - very happy for you, it's well-deserved!
