1:15 I can hear someone's ringtone going off.
Edit: I disappear for 8 hours and get a notification that someone liked a random comment I made. Apparently almost 1K. TF?

There is an easy way to remember what hardware and software are:

The hardware is what you kick

The software is what you swear at

0:43 I just understood the term firmware. It's amazing what things you just don't think about but just learn and adopt.

I see firmware as an intermediary device which helps merge the hardware and software. Similar to drivers, but a bit more on the hardware side than the software.

Therefore, I'm starting a petition to rename "drivers" to "limpware", so that we can have hard > firm > limp > soft!

Wait a second

Soft (ware)
Firm (ware)
Hard (ware)

One of the few good tech naming conventions.

At 3:00, this makes me really appreciate the work of doing firmware updates for my quadcopter. The data has to be downloaded through the app on my phone and then sent via WiFi to the aircraft itself.

Constantly hearing the Samsung ring sound in the background, legitimately thought it was my old S3 that I swear I turned off yesterday.

Great video.
Firmware is really important, and it is really "deep".
Meaning, a bad firmware may brick your device.

I think it was relevant to mention MD5 in this video - which is a method usually used to verify the integrity of a firmware file.

2:46 Someone was really sloppy that day!

1:10 there's actually a biological analogy to this called the neuromuscular junction. this is like the difference between a nerve and a muscle cell. At the neuromuscular junction where your nerves connect to your muscles you have muscle cells called motor endplates that have receptors on them and can react to neurotransmitters like acetylcholine in order to activate.

Thank you so much for this video Linus! I never thought I'd say that, but you really saved me this time. I've been having lots of outtages lately, and I've been getting anxious about my baby. So now you reminded me that I have to buy UPS to protect my system. Thank you!
