HOW TO KEEP YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OFF WHEN REMOVING CATALYTIC CONVERTER

This is for all the people who wanted to do a cat delete for a louder exhaust, and better performance but is getting that nerve wrecking engine light on the dash.

Just an FYI to those that dont already know. The O2 sensors closest to the engine BEFORE the catalytic converters are required. They tell the computer how much fuel to send to the engine. Spacers on these are not necessary when deleting the cats, as the cats don't affect their function. The ones AFTER the catalytic converter are the ones that tell the computer if the catalytic converter is doing its job. So you can run your car without the rear O2 sensor, but unless you do this trick with spacers, or have it tuned, you will have a check engine light. However it will not effect engine performance. If you live in an area where emissions testing isnt required, and you dont care about a check engine light, you dont have to worry about it.

If I cut the cats of my 2002 Chevy Tahoe z71 will it throw. Code and run like shit or will this work for my Tahoe? Can I just hollow out the converter's and still keep the 02 sensor's in them? Or will I have to put spacers in them?

had a 1984 F-150 4.9 i got new, after warranty i put on 3 inch exhaust and red cherry bomb took out converter and went from 12/13 mpg to 16/18 mpg had the pick up 21 years and with out the converter on no muffler rust out from the inside out

I live in Cali with a 96 Bronco 5.8l and constantly depressed with the muffled sound of the two stock cats still retained. I passed smog this last year however. Would I be able to cut the cats inbetween smog inspections and install foulers for check engine lights. And re install cats prior to inspection? Or is there some policy that's says they will fail me if they see my cats have been removed before or tampered wirh lol

My 2011 Nissan Altima just displayed this code. I don't have a Catalytic converter, it was stolen, now straight pipe and REALLY BAD gas mileage. If my boyfriend puts the fouler spacers on my downstream 02 sensor will it help with the fuel consumption?
