I buy more CD's now than I ever have. Being in my fifties I was around at the time that Compact Discs were muscling in on the Compact Cassette and vinyl record.

The hole in a compact disc is exactly the size of the old Dutch 10 cent coin (the "dubbeltje", from back when we used Guilders).

I always thought that the CD lost out to Vinyl and Digital Downloads was that CDs made after 1998 or so sounded like crap; they were compressed (not including classical and some Jazz). Most likely because of the portable mp3 players and later, the iPod and their limited dynamic range. I have some CDs from the 1980s, even from analog masters like Steely Dan Aja, that will put any LP to shame.

Yeah...I've read a bit about it as it's been getting more public...if it's as good as they claim, I'll be the first in line! :)
