The next Pop os is completely different by the way and they are developing a store for their own (Pop OS is just a modded elementary OS store it will be dropped with Gnome in the next Cosmic version).

I guess they don't want a repeat of the linux gaming challenge form LTT so they are just directing you to the flatpak instead of bundling the deb package from valve or canonical's snap

On Cachy OS did you do the same test with TKG kernel ?

Pop OS is probably more battery efficient than CachyOS. I don't know if the GPU switcher works at all in Arch based systems. I tried to set up GPU switcher in EndeavourOS and it didn't work out.

Great video!
Random question: I want to switch to Linux, and I'm considering CachyOS, but for several reasons, I need to use Dropbox and they don't have an official version for Arch, but they do for Ubuntu/Debian.
I know there's a way to build from source on Arch. Do you know how reliable, and stable it is on Arch?

I'm no, expert but me steam appears to be installed just fine? Am I missing something here?

Great video, I definitely learned something there.
I run fedora silverblue (bluefin to be precise), everything flatpak on Gnome. So our preferences differ A LOT. Okay, that out of the way...
It's bad that PopOS didn't install the right package format. That can be a real problem, there are applications that you just can't use as flatpaks. You choose, not the distro.
The performance difference is quite interesting to see, I wonder how much I leave on the table by running some prebuild fedora thing instead of an optimized kernel. Maybe I'll try a spin with some custom kernel just to see if it offers any real benefits. Maybe that is more relevant on real gaming systems with high-end graphic cards.
I did so in the past but had REALLY bad experiences with the zen kernel on two distinct systems, so I went back to the vanilla kernel to hopefully not run into stupid problems.

I don't get it, if people don't like gnome that much they could just switch to xfce or kda

why is it an issue ?

POP OS i use on my laptop as i use free wifi in Library to set it up. It is basically Ubuntu on a system 76 (A computer and laptop builder) version. My PC has Linux Mint as daily driver. It is listed in BIOS as Ubuntu. It just has more pre installed software and a Windows screen and you can put shortcuts on screen. So its good for a laptop on the moue for searching web and games and stuff. But the PC i want something beefy. But both are simple to setup and easy to run and don't make problems like some more modern OS that i have tried.

So you would still recommend Mint for windows users? Over Pop!_OS?

I think it's not the right period for testing and challenging Pop_OS! That system is moving away from Gnome, and, as you might know, its new Cosmic desktop environment will be based on iceWM. So, maybe the performance will improve as iceWM is supposed to be lightweight to compare to Gnome.
I think you should have used either the cachyos or the tkg kernel in both operating systems to compare the performance (using the same components/drivers).
That said, maybe you should give a retry with the same kernel.

I wouldn't even consider it, I don't like gnome.

You complained about Pop Os when it comes to multi-monitors but you didn't even use pop os window stacking feature together with shortcuts, which greatly improve productivity especially when you using multiple apps at the same time. I use 5+ in multi-monitors doing web development and it is amazing Pop Os is superior to linux mint is on another level. I used to use mint before and would not go back. The only flaw Pop OS might now is that they skipped a version and now working on cosmic so they have not pay much attention to the main distro.
