This scene was not in Mark Twain's original 1876 novel. Injun Joe's accomplice did not have a name either. Injun Joe only murdered Doctor Robinson in other film adaptations as well as in the novel. This 1995 film was the only production to feature an abandoned dilapidated house (not necessarily haunted). Other versions of Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" omit the abandoned dilapidated house scene.

Emmett wasn’t fast enough to kill Injun Joe He was about to shoot in jail with his pistol but then he threw a knife on his back that quick and he’ll never get the treasure either Emmett’s last words were I wouldn’t cheat ya And then he said to Joe just gettin’ these tools together in case you come back oh am I glad to ya But I don’t think he was glad to see him he was trying to go to number two under the crossover he can get a treasure for himself but it’s too late he killed him that quick
