When I was a young boy, my Dad got some glass eggs and put them in the nesting boxes. We always had more eggs than we could eat.

Turn the four boxes into four separate boxes or two larger boxes. They don’t like just a big wide open area.

Just in case their eggs change color (sometimes they do), mark your decoy eggs somehow. Scratching an x into each end seemed to be okay but sharpie marks got the decoys thrown out of the nests by the chickens.

To clarify, the fake eggs only tell the hens where to lay, they do not make them lay more than they otherwise would. They certainly can help hens to spread out, but honestly, it's not really necessary to do so. Hens in the wild lay in one spot so the eggs can all be incubated together. While not necessary in a coop enviroment, it's harmless and as long as they have the option of other nest boxes, can safely be ignored
