My favorite reselling tools that I use:

Some of the links above contain affiliate codes, which means I may get a cut if you decide to make a purchase. And Flipwise is an app that I co-founded. Thank you for your support!

I agree that partial refunds are a no-no under most circumstances. I had a buyer claim that the clasp on a $200 bracelet she bought from me was "sticky" and that her jeweler said it would cost $75 to fix. I apologized for the "sticky" clasp and offered a full refund upon return of the item. She conveniently disappeared. I then blocked her from ever buying from me again.

Hey Justin: Giving Ebay a second try. The first time 3 yrs ago I was terrified of taxes, accounting, shipping, yada yada. After watching your videos ..No Fear! I sold my first item today and with the power of Flipwise, I have all my numbers. Thank you so much!!!!

Found your channel recently and the weekly show is becoming my favorite reseller content by far. Love the format!

On the topic of uploading videos via desktop: I would also suggest lowering the quality settings on your phone before taking a video as well. I’ve had trouble in the past with video files being too big to upload to eBay, and have found that keeping the video 15-20 seconds long, filming at 30fps, and filming in regular HD (instead of 4K), keeps the file size manageable and much easier to transfer to your computer and upload to eBay.

My first ever listing and sale was 3 hours after I listed it. Got so excited and happy. It was a World of Warcraft SDCC lanyard from 2015 and there was only 1 other one listed on eBay at the time for $35~, so maybe I underpriced but it was definitely the fuel I needed to continue.

Justin, Thanks for posting this top. Literally today I had a buyer who purchased a 15 inch XMAS nativity sculpture which was pretty durable tell me that I packed it poorly (ironically most my customers compliment me on my packing. anyways said it came in broke and I got a picture of the box some of my ebay tape and a very small unidentifable piece that may or may not be the item. They said they were disappointed and told me I shouldnt pack with paper which I packed with bubble wrap around the item and paper and I was to refund there money. I told them I needed to see identifiable pictures of the item and then per ebay policy I would decide if I needed them to ship it back to me or not for a refund. This is almost exactly the same as one of the scenarios you gave. You want to always believe people are honest and you want to be a good seller but you have to protect your business to. Thanks again. MR C.

Here in central Florida the summer is the slowest time of year for garage sales. It’s too hot, the weather is super unpredictable and the mosquitoes are abundant.

I’ve done videos on my listings. You’re right. It has to be done on a computer. I take very short videos with my phone and email them to myself, save them to the computer, open my listing draft and upload the video to the draft before listing. Because it’s not a simple process, it took me a very long time to try it, but there are some things that just need a video to help them sell. I’d had this wonderful T Rex “hobby horse” listed for a year and it just wasn’t selling. It was really cool and I knew if I could get the push-button roar on video, it would sell. So I swallowed my reservations and did the above steps. After a year of nothing, it sold in a week. So if I have something that moves or makes sound, I’ll do a video.

Hi Justin. First, thanks for being descriptive in your content. I usually listen like a podcast rather than watch. I'm a 78-year-old reseller. Many of my listings are liquidating my husband & my possessions, so the sell-through rate is not as big a consideration. I post, if the items don't sell, I donate. Does paying eBay's full ad rate place items higher on the view list? For the most part I try to price my items competitively, but I need to get eyes on them.

Be careful with adding a second shipping option. EBay listing results will show the fastest shipping option and doesn't say if its expedited or regular. Most buyers are looking at the total cost of an item and even if you've priced your item exactly the same as everyone else the total cost of your item is now more expensive in the results and many buyers will skip over it

In a weird coincidence, right after you first mentioned that baking dish in a previous video I sold a very similar baking dish that also broke on the way. I almost made them send the pieces back, too. Then I saw their photos and realized that for an oblong breakable dish like that, I hadn’t packed it well. Now I’ll think twice before buying that shape of dish. It would have to be packed in a huge box, I think.

Just about every problematic buyer I've ever had, messaged me first before buying. Sometimes, their questions were red flags that I should have picked up on. Sometimes, they were basic questions or requests. Occasionally there is a comment on the purchase "please pack well" or "ship right away". For some reason anyone who wanted to rip me off, couldn't resist the urge to communicate with me and telegraph what was to come. It's unfortunate for the average customer with a necessary question because I am very quick to block anyone.

I've added videos to my listings when it asks for photos on the desktop site. I use video to show how floppy a hat may be such as an "Adventure Time / Fin" hat that had ears.. I'll demonstrate puppets as well.

The biggest piece of advice Ive heard and it makes sense and I use it as my business model now.

"The reason people can't sell things online is because they love their inventory more than everyone else."

If something breaks, doesn't the buyer have to file a claim with USPS or the carrier that was used to deliver the item?

I look out for foam at garage and estate sales. It is usually very cheap. I will use it to pack around breakable items sometimes along with the bubble wrap, especially higher dollar items, for some extra protection.

100% on the full refund if returned intact advice. I'm only at about 100 total sales, but the two times people made claims that I knew were not true, I told them to send them back. Instead, they disappeared . .

I ADORE the music 🎵 choice at the beginning of the video. Such a cinematic and humorous pick. That accompaniment really elevates your content even MORE than it was already! 👍🏻🏅 You are officially my fave YouTube person relating to reselling and eBay. 🙂

I often wonder when collecting inventory if I might get something haunted and I bring it home 😅

I only hope when it sells, whatever is attached to it goes with it 😂😂
