Gary Habermas' Brilliant Minimal Facts

preview_player
Показать описание
In this clip, taken out of content with the intent to lead the youth to hell, shows how the minimal facts argument can be used for Mormonism just as effectively as it can be used for Christianity. I realize that Christians will start to scream "but but but ...." Well, what follows from the "but ..." is no longer minimal facts but other "facts' to disprove Mormonism. Likewise, non-Christians have other facts to doubt that Christianity is true as well.

Whilst most of America sleeps, Pinecreek launches an attack under the cover of darkness. :)

In ninety seconds you summed up my three year long journey out of Christianity. Thanks to the Mormon missionaries who knocked on my door for helping my find the way out of religion.

I freaking love these side by side comparisons. I wonder what size of magic underwear Habermas needs.

Licona - "Looking through the eyes of scientific history, the best hypothesis that explains the data is a real resurrection."

You have got to be kidding me lol. How about it was just a story? I don't even believe there was an empty tomb. No need for any swoon theory or hallucinations when the empty tomb and resurrection was just as made up as the feeding of the 5, 000 and turning water into wine.

I'm Exmo and Christians can not stand when you use the Mormon example . they can't stand it ... But growing up Mormon all we heard was witnesses and martyrs.. hell David Whitmer went to great lengths to convince people that he seen an Angel after he was asscued of recanting..

Love these shorts. Doug, you might like J. Warner Wallace's 10 min video "Why I Rarely Share My Personal Testimony and Why Shouldn't Be Quick to Share Yours". He draws a parallel to Mormonism, why young people are leaving the church, and why "I grew up in it" and "I had an experience" are terrible reasons.

Most Christians are sleepwalking, very few would realise the significance of this!

It's like making excuses for "How the Leopard Got His Spots" must be true. A just so story. Take it at face value. There's no way Kipling could've written that reason for how leopards got spots if it wasn't possible. If it wasn't possible to imagine, he wouldn't have imagined it. So, taking a minimal facts approach (a polite way of Gary saying zero facts are present), it must be true. Done. Gah, aren't sceptics horrible? Can't they just read Kipling and see the truth? Science changes it's mind all the time, but the words in the Just So Stories book never change.

The only hypothesis that works well to explain that both good and evil exist is that Ahura Mazda created the twin spirits Spenta Mainyu and Angra Mainyu (Ahriman).

Zoroastrianism confirmed.

"you can't prove all of the disciples died". Maybe some could be shown to probably or maybe have existed but how can you prove they all existed as disciples or even real people? These stories come from a book that has been shown to have untruths, unreconcilable contradictions and more yet, these people just skip over that fact and get to presume that what is written in it actually happened? Sure, lets trust a witness that has been a proven liar on numerous occasions and contradicted himself on many more yet, lets take him at his word this time. I don't get it.

Jack shit happened!

1. Don’t really care if this is true or not. Doesn’t seem relevant.

2. Not a lot of sources to go on for this one but the testimony of one man claiming that this happened. Doesn’t meet the criteria of multiple attestation.

3. Not sure where you got this one from. Please cite your sources next time.

4. It wouldn’t have been hard for Joseph to write the Book of Mormon. I’m not sure if you think that we’re claiming that the Bible is of supernatural origin. Just because I believe it’s inspired doesn’t mean that humans didn’t write it.
