A pass over tip from a scale modeler! For the sand adhesive Don't use straight super glue as it clumps up, use watered down Elmer's glue with a spritz of isopropyl alcohol on top to wet it through the grains, equally as plant safe and a bit more thorough for the vertical sand bits.

I know it’s been a year but if you spray ipa on the sand and then put glue on it. It will break the surface tension of the glue and spread a lot better. It’s a modlers trick.
