In response to the recent furor over #bendgate, Consumer Reports is taking the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus into its labs to see how much force the phones can withstand compared to other phones.

This is why I stand behind my Sony Xperia Z which I got last year. It's not top of the line like the other Xperia's that came after, but the same it's waterproof & dustproof! I have a replacement phone because my last one had the rubber seal around the headphone port cover fail on me. But towards the end of last month I ended up dropping my phone into the water, which water got through the broken seal & killed my phone. It was dead for 2 weeks, but came back to life on the first week of this month & it worked good as new, no issues, plus I did a bend test for my friend & it didn't flex or break. This phone is more durable than an iphone6, it's cheaper & it's alot stronger, besides, how many phones can come back from the dead? I stand by my Xperia 100%.

Given the obvious point of failure being made clear in the hand bend by the other youtube publisher the stress to produce permanent deformity on that point ought to take very little time to determine about that axis. I'd say about 30 psi should be sufficient to produce noticeable deformation.

Looking forward to seeing what the tensometer returns on this blatant oversight.

Every smartphone I've ever had (Blackberry Pearl, Curve, Bold 9000, Bold 9700, HTC Evo 4G, HTC Evo 3D, Samsung Galaxy S3, LG Nexus 5) has always spent significant time in my pockets, and they've never been bent out of shape.

2things that comes into my mind, 1) if there will be any bias due to majority of consumer report staffs being American and wanting to support Apple. 2) if Apple will actually contact the consumer report and lobby them.

Comparison to other similarly sized phones (Galaxy note, Nokia 1500 series, etc.) is key.
